The Rebuild
Re: The Rebuild
This partnership did see West Ham winning a European trophy. Let's not start the funeral precession just yet, eh?
Re: The Rebuild
Would just like us to do things properly for once.
Managers shouldn’t be making these appointments. Let’s hope he’s just part of a structure that is being assembled behind the scenes.
His record and career certainly isn’t anything to get excited about.

We’re all those players duds ?AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Thu Mar 06, 2025 7:56 pm The result of Newman and his team’s diligence was the signing of eight new players – a Club-record signing in Brazil attacking midfielder Lucas Paquetá, Italy internationals Gianluca Scamacca and Emerson Palmieri, Germany defender Thilo Kehrer, Algeria centre-back Nayef Aguerd, Ivory Coast winger Maxwel Cornet, promising midfielder Flynn Downes and a permanent deal for France goalkeeper Alphonse Areola.
Doesn't seem to have a great track record but I'll give him a chance here and hope the results are better than the list above!
Re: The Rebuild
We're incredibly lucky that the best man for the job happens to have worked with Moyes at his last club.
Re: The Rebuild
Just a black mark against TFG. Nothing worth getting hysterical about but given the question marks over their handling of Roma and the skepticism Everton fans will have over any new owner given the dismal Moshiri era then I think a lot of us would have hoped those being employed by the club would be the best people for the job rather than this appointment where the optics suggest "recently worked with Moyes" was the most essential criteria point in the recruitment.
It's one thing Moyes appointing his own staff for the training pitch, but his influence in these sort of appointments shouldn't be so significant considering how it affects the long-term future of the club.
Re: The Rebuild
I think they’re looking at how both moyes and ranieiri have dug them out of a massive hole and think giving them the rule over everything is the way to go.
I really hope not. You can pretty much guarantee letting a manager build his own recruitment team won’t work out long term.
You hire someone like David Weir to build it with input from the manager.

Re: The Rebuild
Think it depends on the role we're interested in him for.
If its DoF, then yeah its a massive red flag as it doesn't appear he has any experience in that role.
If its for a scouting role eventually working for the new DoF then its fair enough. We're going into a summer expecting a lot of turnover of players, with the DoF already out the door. If we're trying to bring players in quickly then someone who know's the characteristics the current manager is looking for and probably already has a database that doesn't need that much updating since last summer to find what he needs seems a sensible thing to do. And if the guy doesn't work long term with the view of the new DoF then he gets binned off for what in the grand scheme of things won't be very much outlay in comparison to not being able to get the players we need in quickly this summer.

Roma are absolutely flying
Re: The Rebuild
Think they spent too much money on him for it to be a goer but wouldn't mind Delap from Ipswich. Leif Davies not a bad one either.
