No, but he’s the type of player that you add when building a team around a certain player, an Ndaiye or whoever.

This is really, really bad.
Just about managing to do the bare minimum.

Re: James Garner
Yeah he's rubbish. Would love us to find a Gareth Barry regen to play alongside Gana.

Re: James Garner
That first game back he looked great. I don't get why he since he has been so fucking bad.
Re: James Garner
Feel he's got more to show than what he actually is showing.
Plays within himself too much.

Re: James Garner
I'm going to bet that a whole bunch of players will have had their best games of the season against Leicester, I think it says a lot more about them than it does about Jimmy Garner.Audrey Horne wrote: ↑Sun Mar 16, 2025 2:45 pm That first game back he looked great. Re: James Garner
It doesn’t help that Mangala is out for the season. Not sure PSR Tim is pushing for a starting place or if Moyes might try Alcaraz in a deeper role in midfield.

Re: James Garner
Had so many of them haven’t we.
Just strolling through the game doing the bare minimum.
If you want to play like that then show some quality about you.
At least sigurdson would get you goals and put in good set pieces.
I think he knows he’s not good enough so plays as simple as he can to not stand out in any way.

Re: James Garner
Not sure I agree with all the hate tbh - he’s being asked to sit deep and play the more conservative role since Gana is a pressing machine and much more mobile.
He does a good amount of work defensively and is safe in possession - I’d like him to be more expansive but it’s not like he’s making massive mistakes and causing issues for us when he plays

Re: James Garner
It’s not even about being expansive.
It’s just using the ball better.
The stats say it all. He doesn’t move the ball well in any area. A pass completion of 72% for a player who doesn’t even try to play forward is really bad.
Compare garner to managla and there’s a world of difference imo and managla isn’t even that good.

I like the lad, think he can do more but I think we creativity around him he contributes.

Not a fan of this PSR Tim shite. He's look good for a player his age and experience and was an affordable buy.toffee_scot wrote: ↑Sun Mar 16, 2025 4:17 pm It doesn’t help that Mangala is out for the season.
