18 times, and no charges were even brought against Southgate over it either. Wasn't even arrested.

Absolute state of this country.

Trying to work out if they ever started together. That would be a centre half pairing Gibraltar fans wouldn't put up with

A centre half pairing of Mings and Coady would struggle at Sunday League level.

3rd best defence in the league. He absolutely isn't a bottom 6 player. He's a very good centre half

Why has he never played at a higher level then?

All the teams above us have better centre halves.

It’s not a slight on him, just calling it as it is. I don’t see anybody better than us ever coming in for him and if we start to climb the league he’ll move down the pecking order.

Tyrone mings has probably been a better centre half than tarks to be fair.

He was quick and good on the ball when he was at his best.

I don't really buy that everyone above us has better centre halves. We've got the 3rd best defence in the league. It's not as if everyone's arguing the other 4 are amazing.

I think the no one better than us argument is a bit of a loaded 1. We pay him 100k a week. Lots of the teams that have been better than us couldn't pay him that

I think when Jonny Evans still gets game time at Man United or Chelsea so often look a mess at the back, there could've been a world where he could've played at a higher level and not looked out of place. I do think at a certain point we also fall into the same trap of England managers and pick based on reputation or the badge they wear each week.

Same with the England call up, if Quansah gets a cap or Lewis Dunk gets in...no slight on Dunk but I think had Everton as a whole had been performing to a higher level maybe Tarks could've had a better chance of a call up, probably likewise with Branthwaite.

Again, I'm not trying to paint him as more than he is but I think what he is could've been a component of better sides too had he had that chance and I doubt he would've looked out of place. While recognizing there is a level of player above him with a higher ceiling, but I don't think England has been overly blessed in that department for a while.

It's worth noting that, unless I'm mistaken, when Moyes was at West ham he wanted him but Burnley where quoting something like 40-45M and he passed, so he was a big fan of him anyway.

He's a good CB but I have to agree his level is mid table.

No way he'd be a starting CB for a side in the CL.

Too slow and not good enough on the ball for a top team or for playing at international level.

But he's excellent at what he brings to a team below that. If you want to play great footy built from the back he's not your guy, if you want to play a high line he's also not your guy. If you want someone solid and reliable who's a good leader and rarely lets you down at the defensive side of the game he's your guy.

It’s objective of course but I think other than maybe Brentford he struggles to start for anyone above us.

Been a great signing for us though but this is his level I think, hence why he’s never been above it in his career.

I must have missed that game ;-)
