It was never, ever going to come off. At best it was agent stuff to drive out better suitors.

That time could have been better spent persuading a more realistic target that he was our number one pick.

What has happened in the last, is those more realistic targets have been chased early and hard by other clubs, so we miss out on the very best, then we miss out on our best options, then we Scrabble around for whatevers left at the end of the window.
We're the football equivalent of a single guy in his late 50s who was a hit with the ladies in 1984, and still thinks he's going to be 'pulling babes' when he heads into town.

Thats totally uncalled for. No need to bring me into the discussion.

Well if you were a hit with the ladies in 1984, then you'd have to be above a particular age ;)

Don’t think talks would’ve come this far if there wasn’t some encouragement from his side.

If a bigger/richer side swoops in, there’s not much that can be done.

This is why some clubs pay a fuck ton in agent fees and/or have trusted agents they work with, to retain exclusivity in negotiations rather than leaving their targets to the most attractive bidder. I think it’s safe to assume we do not have these luxuries right now.

He’s not the only talented winger out there, there will be other options if this falls through. See the way we pivoted from Delap to Barry.

At the bottom of the Independent piece on Grealish:

https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/foo ... 97521.html

Everton are also in talks with Lyon over 20-year-old Belgian sensation Malick Fofana.

The forward can play across the front line, but the French club want over £40m to sell.

There is nevertheless a belief that Fofana feels he is ready for the step up, amid a lot of interest so far this summer from across Europe.

The player is eager to test himself in the Champions League, but would be willing to move regardless for the right project, which opens the door to a potential move to the blue side of Merseyside.

Bring in Aznou, Fofana, Grealish, Maitland-Niles, Luiz, and Hackney and I think we win the league.

It’s all gone to tits since we had Joorabchian pulling in galacticos like James for us.

Think we need to get this wrapped up while he’s concussed.

Can’t see us spending big on a left winger when Ndiaye, Alcaraz and possibly Grealish can play there but let’s see
