Most of us already want rid of barry. Alcaraz is on a 3 year contract. Theres still time but come on none of us imagined most of them would contribute so little and very few have shown real promise here

You only have to look across the league to see that its the hardest and most expensive position to fill. Players are going for lots of money and very few actually succeed.

I thought Woltemade wasnt a bad deal at 60m, but he hasnt scored in his last 15 and looks average now and rarely plays, Isak looks woeful, Gyökeres and Sesko too, these are all more expensive signings than we could probably look to make and have all been largely a poor return on investment, im not sure Barry is any better worse than business others do, you just notice it more when its your own club.

Our issue, which is slightly being addressed this season, is goals from other areas to mitigate the striking deficiencies.
In the summer there will probably be strikers like Nicolas Jackson available, but im not even sure the extra level of investment to get someone like him, over a Delap, will result in that much more.

I dont really rate Delap, but at the same time I dont think he'll do worse than other options, unless we went for someone like Toney, who would then be on a big wedge.

We bought an understudy for beto? Is that the problem everyone expected us to address last summer?? Even beyond that id imagine the majority of us want him gone in the summer. Not even sure which games he looked good in.

I guess that is better than dibling whos George's understudy whos mcneils understudy whos grealishs understudy

I think people are lying to themselves if they are saying we expected most of our signings to contribute so little. No one expected barry to underperform beto or dibbling to underperform mcneil. Or for our new left back not even be second choice at left back or for us to have made it past a year and our search for a right back still be unsuccessful

I feel like you've made this point at least once a day for the past 2 months tbh.

I think add some 24-27 year old ready players in key positions and the younger players signings seems less of an issue and gives us a balance of the 'now' and 'future'.

Are they? Not sure how anyone can definitively write off Dribbling at 20 years old. Pretty much the same age as Armstrong who has a thread on here labelling him as a future captain, and similar impact.

Delap is closer to Beto than people realise imo

Well yes. Any young player could take a massive leap and become great. All current evidence suggests he was a very poor signing though. I wouldn't be surprised if he was out on loan next season which is probably better than the alternative of him not getting minutes here

It can always be wait and see but I cant imagine any of us thought most of these players would be ao unsuccessful in the short term. With hindsight the only player we would have bought is KDH.

We wait and see thats all we can do but for me I think we'll be 2 years in and he still will have barely played a game for us

He's achieved more than Armstrong though, who whilst looks promising hasn't had a 6 month spell of looking like a pretty fantastic young talent at premier league level.

People get a semi on for Armstrong because he's come through the academy, and worry about Dibling because he cost £32m... But in reality, so far at least, Dibling has shown more than Armstrong at almost the same age.

Maybe both will become stars, maybe neither, maybe just one... Who knows eh? Certainly not going to write Dibling off for a good while yet though.

I dont think theres a lot in it. Armstrong has at least proved hes very good at championship level. Dibling is higher rated and done more in youth football.

The difference obviously is the price. Getting something for free what maybe you dont need is 1 thing. Getting something for a massive outlay that isnt what you needed and probably isnt worth the money is going to be looked on significantly worse

Also the other obvious answer is that moyes thinks Armstrong is currently a better option on the wing than dibling

I think thats much of the issue with dibling. Its not even is he good or is he worth 32 plus add ons. Its that hes behind pretty much everyone who might fancy a go on the wing to get minutes. What is he 5th choice?? 6th choice?? Maybe even 7th choice to play. Hes completely out of the picture. It already feels like year 2 is a loan or very few minutes. There doesn't seem much of a path to playing for us anytime soon

16 goal involvements for Fatawu this season in a shambles of a Leicester team... Wonder if we'll rekindle our interest this summer given we could probably get him at a knock down fee?

And im not really completely writing him off as a footballer but as a good signing for the amount we paid.

Armstrong has obviously been massively overhyped too. He should still be at preston

He wasn’t very good at all.
