Come on down to the Right Back position

Wan-Bissaka is an easy one to walk away from if the price isn’t exactly right.

I like him even though he’s limited but wrong age profile and probably on decently high wages too. For a low fee, it’s somewhat justifiable. If West Ham are asking for more, no thanks.

The only action we seem to be taking to buy a right back is to get right back out of the way

Watched him in the world cup and I thought he was brilliant. Suspect its brilliant on account of him being a right back and not patterson. Everton brilliant rather than actually brilliant

Anyone with good right back movement who can make all the standard right back passes during build-up will be brilliant for us.

I’m not particularly envious of any of the right backs in the league at clubs in our financial weight class. I am envious of the fact that they have natural right backs who make the right runs and don’t spoil build-ups because they aren’t practiced at using the ball in those areas.

Yeah. It was like watching a new invention. Hes apparently shite offensively but he was dribbling it down the wing at pace and an option on the overlap. Its criminal that we just haven't bothered with 1 for years.

I hate back fives, but I don't understand we we dont use that formation considering our squad makeup.

Put Rohl and McNeil at wing backs.. maybe garner.

Please don’t wish McNeil in to any first 11.

I'd have Patterson and Aznou - as I think they're more wing back than full backs in this league,...but exactly,...based upon our squad composition, 3 centre backs and wing backs (as we don't have any true full backs, but have plenty Centre Backs) is really best suited to what we have.

It's an argument between jamming players into an arguably superior formation (4231) , or playing to our squad's strengths in a different formation (532).

With Moyes and most other managers I can think of however, it's almost always going to be the former.

It’s not just about getting your best players out there though.

Three CB formations make ball progression harder unless the CBs are comfortable carrying the ball out of defense and stepping into midfield when needed.

There’s also some weirdness with creating wide overloads as the centre forwards and/or centre midfielders need to slide out there to combine with the wing backs.

Wing back is also a crazy specialist position. Very few players have the pace, stamina, and technique to do it well.

George, Iliman, KDH and Dibling maybe have that ability? They're not really wide players even though theyre played there, but can drift into good spaces.

A few of the so called fullbacks we've been linked with are more WB than FB.

For argument's sake I don't think Branthwaite or Keane, if used, have too many issues pushing forward with the ball. Would like to see Jake and Jarrod either side of one of the old fellas.

Would need a big redirection in tactics though, which I'm not sure Moyes is going with, 20-odd years into his career.
