A lad I know from Carlisle who goes to a lot of games said the story at the time of the transfer was that because Carlisle were so skint when we bought him they gave up some or all of their sell on clause in return for a higher initial fee up front. That could be true but it didn't totally wiped out the sell on clause, Nigel Clibbens who's chief executive confirmed last year at a fan forum that they had a clause.
“I’ve said in the past, whereas [in] the deals for James Trafford and Dean Henderson [who both made Premier League moves last summer], the sell-ons we would get from those weren’t transformational for the club, if Jarrad continues to develop and goes for the sort of money that the media are speculating about, that would bring a significant amount of money into this club, which would allow it to deliver on the plans that we need to do,” said Clibbens.
It's League Two, (well national league now) so £5m would be a significant amount to them so it doesn't mean they've got a 15% sell on clause.

Amateur team in cork just got 3 million out of the Liverpool sub keeper I heard we bought out the sell on clause because they were skint as well hopefully it is the case because we will do well to keep Jared this summer

I kind of hope Carlisle do still have a 15% clause, providing we factor that on top of what we value him. The money they’d get would be huge for their future.

Great if true. Going to take big bucks to get him to sign though. Either that or a pretty low release clause.

Yeah, wouldn't be surprised if any new deal contains a break clause should a big club come in for him, like Leeds.

In mind head he is an obstinate so and so who refuses a move to a big club just to get an England cap and decides to do it on his own terms.

In my head.

Just sign him up and pay him what he needs to stay. Lock him up to the longest contract we can.

We will have £40m+ additional revenue coming through now from the new stadium and have just released several players on large contracts.

This guy is a baller and someone who can become a future captain of the club. And look, if we don’t meet his expectations as a club, then we can sell him in the future to side willing to pay for him.

Superb news.

Hopefully a nice juicy release clause is in there.
