I've been following this build pretty closely over the past 3/4 years, and know it pretty intimately from a drone's eye. However I don't think I was quite prepared for the scale of it in real life.

I love the way that Goodison - and even the sad monstrosity Anfield has become - tease slowly into view among the terraced houses and the trees of Stanley Park.

But as soon as you turn down Boundary Street, BMD immediately looms into sight and commands your attention. It epitomises the vision of something other worldly being dropped into a time and place that provides the viewer with both the shock of the contrast of the roof to it's surroundings, yet also the comfort of the lower brick structure growing from the docklands.

Then closer up, even from the road the stadium seems to hangs over you with a presence that the vertical cladding of Goodison no longer achieves. There's a power and a confidence about the whole site, and in particular I love the cut of the South stand and the way it almost salutes down the river.

As soon as you see it you can tell it is going to draw in the sponsors, the commercial opportunities, the players, the next generation of Evertonians. There's a very exciting future on the way for us.
