The comments in the BBC article about Alcaraz from Southampton fans are uniformly positive about him. Gives me hope we might have a good one here.

Be nice for any new players to not be coming into an absolutely desperate situation. Nice to not be amongst the 2 or 3 least attractive premier league clubs for any potential signing

Alcaraz deal still not signed - and could go into overtime!
Sky Sports News' Anton Toloui:
"All day we have been saying Carlos Alcaraz will be an Everton player before the deadline. But this one is going late.
"The deal between Everton and his club Flamengo still hasn't been signed.
"There's been a broad agreement for quite a while about a loan deal with an option to make it permanent. He's passed his medical. He's on Merseyside. They're ready to go, as soon as it is signed.
"Even if this deal is agreed, it is going to have to be ratified by the Premier League, so they're going to have to have an extension. Everton have done that before when they signed Armando Broja on deadline day in September and this one may take time after the deadline to be confirmed... IF it does get signed!"
