Went down like a sack of shit there Gabriel.
He will have been informed as well by Arteta to do that in all.

He's got no pace but I'm a big fan of this German giant
I love him.
He’s iconic.
Can see why we had no chance of getting him.

Because he won the ball? Don't see how that can possibly be a pen. Only time a player ever commits a foul after winning the ball is if it's violent conduct and he's gone over the top which Pope hasn't done.
I don't think Pope won anything really, which is I guess where my disconnect is. The ball was knocked past him and it brushed off his toe, didn't seemingly change the direction of the ball then clears out the forward. We see plenty of times fouls given for too much force even without it being violent conduct.
I'm clearly in the minority here, so I'll let it go though.

That Gabriel nonsense is Arteta's influence. More interested in "winning" a freekick than actually defending properly. The Dark Arts as the media affectionately call it, I prefer to describe it as cheating.
I don't think that was a penalty either, he gets the ball first, it's not dangerous. How much he touches the ball is irrelevant. They are the rules and always have been. Think it's harsh though as 99/100 that's given before VAR came in and we would have got on with the game instead of waiting around for 5-7 minutes.

Typical Arsenal this.
When it becomes a genuine battle and a fight, they wilt.

No doubt they'll spend a minute celebrating if they fluke a late equaliser.

Really disappointing showing from Arsenal overall.
Although they're not alone really. Liverpool, Man City, Spurs, etc have largely been pretty poor/average in terms of performances so far this season.
