Tarks is training with the squad in New York so must be almost there ? Wasn’t left behind like Branthwaite.

Not really involved myself in this debate much because I'm sort of fine with Keane re-signing but there are 2 CB positions and currently JOB is a RB with no reasonable replacement so MK is the second choice CB, fourth CB in the squad long term.

If one of them goes down in the opening ten mins of a game, is he bringing on Patterson and shifting JOB or is he bringing on Keane?

I'd rather see Keane than Patterson. Keane is up and down but I can't remember the last time Patterson looked anything but a liability

Keane up and down describes him perfectly unfortunately way more downs there is a player in Patterson probably won’t make it here but would have him 100 times ahead of Keane

I think people assuming there's a player in Patterson is based off a few highlights many seasons ago. He's been pretty awful both ends of the pitch when given a chance

I don't think that's remotely true. Keanes last 2 appearances are probably better than anything Patterson has done in years here.

I don't think Patterson ever looks good enough. Says it all that he's found himself behind young Coleman and o brien

Patterson has an upside if we can develop him. He’s deffo a baller. The question is - can we afford to give him the time?

A baller? Seriously? Injuries haven’t helped him but he’s shown nothing to say he’s good enough for this level. He got games at the end of last season to see if he can cut it and we immediately tried to sign Tete. Lots of fans tried to make a big deal of whatever happened between him and Dyche but even Moyes, a fellow Scot, doesn’t rate him evidently. He’s just not good enough for this level and we need to accept that and move one. I really think we’d ship him out if we could get a starter and good cover and we are actively trying to buy someone

I think the Dyche/Patterson 'incident' was more revealing about Dyche than Patterson.

Patterson hasn't been able to get regular football under any club manager. Not in Scotland. Not here under 3 different managers despite our opitions at fullback being amongst the poorest in the league

All evidence suggests hes nowhere near good enough to play for us. I don't really get how anyone can claim he's definitely a baller. He's consistently so poor Ashley young was deemed a better option

I’m getting the feeling you don’t like Patterson

Doesn’t mean he deserves to get a slap from the manager ffs.

I think an injury free pre season under a good manager might bring out the best in him any way.

He's probably a lovely lad. He's been poor when he's played though and he's not played because numerous players with big question marks against their ability have been picked in front of him

I just think it's a bit wild how positive some are about his ability. Think our fanbase likes to put a lot of players in 1 of the 2 extreme boxes and them opinions take a long while to change regardless. Iwobi would be another example but at the other end of the scale

I don't dislike Patterson but he's been a gigantic flop here. Maybe we ruined him. Maybe he was never much to begin with. He's had chances and done nothing. He's had 4 or 5 managers who've not played him

The best we can do is loan him to a good championship side with an obligation to buy if they go up. He's probably going on a free otherwise
