Sky were saying we've conceded 25 goals since September, the lowest in the league over that period. Mad really.

If brown shoes would have kept Moyes's defensive solidness and blended his attack with it, we'd have been a great side. That first season was a ray of hope, which he fucked up with his bollocks of an ego
Him and Moyes as managers together then.

Martinez was a shite manager full stop. He wasn't good either end of the pitch

Bringing Keane on will never help.
Just ban him from the club.

Our attacking play was really good, but we had a finisher in Lukaku. He was shite, but ruined a solid base because he thought he knew better

Martinez got the balance between defence and attack almost pretty much spot on in his first season.
Then tactics changed that made us considerably less defensively solid. We were terrible defensively considering we still had Baines, Jagielka and Coleman plus he persisted with Howard when we could see he was absolutely finished as a Premier League level goalkeeper.

Martinez inherited a well drilled back 4 from Moyes and capitalised on it by focusing on the attacking side of things, thowing the fullbacks forward. After that first season, it was left to deteriorate and he didn't have the nouse to maintain it.
It's why Wenger hit the ground running inheriting a back 4 who were masters of the 1-0 shutout...then over time they became soft and were prone to being bullied on those rainy midweeks in Stoke etc..

Have to disagree with the Howard bit, what made him look bad was Stones fannying about in the box and playing Howard into trouble when he couldn’t play it out.

Maths, our generation call it maths! And we’re not American.

Just goes to show how easily, or perhaps willingly, journalists are fooled by certain managers. The arrogance of some of these statements from people whose understanding of the game is no greater/worse than anybody on here. Arguably worse considering none of them will watch us every single week.
You'd think we'd parted Carlo Ancelotti and brought in Rafael Benitez with what's being said there. (oh wait, they all liked that appointment)

I just looked at the table and although we are 13th, there are only 2 points that separate 13th and 17th place. Although we are mathematically safe from relegation, I wouldn't be surprised if David Moyes continues to be quite cautious with the players he starts/subs on in the hope we can finish 13th. I'm not entirely sure what the difference in prize money is but last year it was something like £12m between 13th and 17th which could help us immensely when it comes to the summer transfer market.
