I've seen in a couple of different reports on him that he can play LB, RB or DM.
Nice to have more midfield depth if that's the case as I'm still hoping we sign a starting RB given he's left footed

He’s 19, he has 33 career first team appearances and more than half of those are for Bayern II.
I’m certain the plan was to bring him along as a late game sub at left back. Best laid plans and all that.

Disappointing for the lad, won't do his confidence any good.
Not his fault, he's not ready to be the main man. I wouldn't be confident throwing him in at Leeds, not sure what other option we have though.

Branthwaite has played LB, hasn't he?
Could be in for a Don Carlo special against Leeds. Or a 3 with wingbacks.

3 with wing backs, keeps Keane out too.

He's very inexperienced and raw. Looked very much like a 19 year old who's not played much top level footy and needs a lot of time and patience.
He's one for the future but showed today he definitely isn't ready to be starting a game any time in the near future.

Needs a little bit of coaching Moyes Baines and Coleman will sort him.

That's the dilemma for us. We need players who can perform now, but also need to look at potential for sell on value. If he's not ready, then we're back to Myko as our only LB and he needs competition.

19 in new country new team….thrown in at the deep end and obviously not ready…think he’ll be fine once settled as a second to Myko…poor positionally yesterday…very quick tho… noticed branthwaite calling him inside exposing the space on the wing….which didn’t help him…not scared to get forward which was a good sign in a friendly…..in the PL though being raw will leave us over exposed….lot to learn…

I could see Pickford and Tarko's expressions when we conceded, they weren't happy with him

Was he quick? There was one part on the break where he was struggling to keep up with one of their slower players, that was a bit of a surprise to me.
Neat and tidy on the ball and looked for passes forward and inside like Baines/Digne used to do rather than just back to the CB or down the line like Myko does

Not disagreeing with people's assessment of being poor positionally, as I didnt watch the game. But I dont think I've ever seen a young full back not be accused of being poor positionallly, Coleman had it early on and Baines and every young pretender in between.
Its one of those lazy tropes that gets rolled out as soon as a team loses possession up the pitch and the full back who we all want to 'bomb on' is unable to teleport himself back into the backline instantly and everyone points to him being caught up the pitch. Baines used to get it all the time for England. Really you need your defensive mid to drop in and provide cover if the ball is lost.
Just a bugbear of mine, i'm sure there will be other positional aspect to point to he could work on and the lad is no doubt not yet the finished article at 19, I've never heard of a fullback who was.
*alright..watched the goal, ball watching and didnt track the run.
