It really wasnt. Our defence last year was solid. Attacking we were awful. Reinforcing our attacking side far outweighed our need for defence.

Yeah, but the improvement in attack might expose the deficiencies of our fullbacks.

It was troubling how often O’Brien tried to carry the ball through a wall of defenders on Saturday. Nobody expects dribbling to be a part of his game as a converted CB, he has to make smarter decisions with the ball for us to reach our true potential.

Simple passes to the more technical players, burst into open space when defenders and wingers abandon you to close down Ndiaye, KDH, Garner, etc.

Anyway, we’re all just waiting for O’Brien to complete his Lescott arc by moving inside next to Branthwaite to form a perfect partnership for one season before having his head turned by City the following summer and then mailing in an opening day performance in which we get walloped.

This will of course require him to chip in with 8 league goals this season. Your move, Jake.

Aside: it’s a travesty how few set piece goals our army of big lumps has returned the past few seasons. Do better, guys.

I can only watch them just get their head under a promising delivery so many times.

Start bagging so our menace can be completely unlocked.

I think in part that's down to the often not great deliveries on set pieces in recent times. McNeil has really up until now been the most reliable on those. They're all capable of scoring clearly, so hopefully one of the new recruits can address that? Not really seen Grealish on those?

Looks like Garner on righty in swingers and KDH on lefty in swingers so far.

I doubt they'll sell him for half of what they've paid down the line.
What's their record like Andy?

I know it's great but he genuinely looks terrible when I watched him, his technical ability is dog shit.

I think it's fine to gamble on someone like that and hope they develop, but not at circa £30m. He's worth half that.

Incredible effort from the top of the club.

Not only do they always get boss striker performances but their last three managers prior to the current one are Glasner, Hutter, and Kovac.

I think they do potentially get a bonus 2 hr window to finish deals if needed. Hopefully it doesn't come to that.

Shit sounds like they really messed up this time, wouldn't like to be the head of their recruitment department when the CEO sees this! Yikes!!
