As a club and as a fanbase we should stop thinking having years left on a contract means anything.
Four contracts rejected, and forcing a move to Saudi.
We’ll get decent money but £70m to spend whilst needing to replace your best player barely touches the sides.
Its a position of power when your only player who can kick a ball wants to go play for the Riyadh sillybillies rather than stay at your new project.

If we said no and he was still here on the day after the transfer window, he's not going to refuse to play for the season, is he? Contracts do still matter and hold a position of power.

Once we sell Ndiaye we are gonna spend a massively over inflated fee on someone ‘Prem Proven’ like £62mil on someone like Zirkzee or Delap and still somehow not get round to sorting a right back

Agreed, his form showed at the end of last season showed he didn't want to be at the club.

6 goals in 32 games is replaceable.

Yeah, bite your hand off for anything around £70m, that would be very good money for him. There's a reason he's 26, playing for Everton on £45k a week and the only apparent firm interest is from the wealthiest tin pot league in the world.

I love him, but this exactly the business model we've all been crying out for for years.

The one thing I've learned is to not get emotionally attached to players.
Love him like but as has been mentioned this business model is one we need to adopt going forward.
We bought him for what, 15M?
Anything over 70-75M would be great business.
Enjoy watching him play but his output leaves a lot to be desired.
He fluffed a tonne of 1 on 1's at the end of the season and sometimes has the tendency to over play when he should pass.
Replaceable and we should, if we plan correctly, get someone with better output.
That's the burning issue though, are those at the helm capable of finding the right replacement? Can't say I'm overly confident but let's wait and see.
