McNeil against the pace of Dan James wouldn't have ended well.

Not having enough players to cover injuries was yesterday's downfall. Leeds absolutely dominated us for an entire half.

All three attacking midfielders wanting to come towards the ball.

I think an average right winger with pace would make a huge difference. Kind of like Theo Walcott did. He wasn’t great but constantly tested the fullback with his pace in behind.

We don’t have anything like that.

This is the argument against Dibling for me.

We have the back-to-goal ballers to play off the left.

When they win their battle and get the ball inside to KDH or Gana or maybe even Grealish or Ndiaye if they get some time centrally, it would be way more impactful to have a right winger making that outside-in run behind the defense.

Walcott, Lennon, Donovan, Mirallas. Think all four of those players made us more effective by making direct runs to balance out all of the indirect wing play down the left.

Said it earlier but I'd love another Kanchelskis type in the squad. You have to have some variation and be able mix it up a bit. I'd love to add some pace and an ability to shoot to one of our wings at least.

I watched the game in my mates house and we were exasperated with the number of times the ball landed back with pickford after having the ball well inside leeds half

I don't mind having 3 that can drift in and interlink / rotate positions... BUT if we're doing that we need an attacking RB to supply the width. Can't be having O'Brien as the person attempting that because it ain't gonna work.

Too risky though, they want top dollar and he's only come back from an ACL recently playing 2 games since I think.

I like the look of him but it's a total dead end unfortunately.

Oh totally agree re. the money they want for him but young pacey RW dribble merchants aren't a species about to go extinct.

There are probably 3 or 4 in France alone who come in and improve this team for <25mil

yeah I agree. I am not a fan of Keane but it isn’t his fault the ball made it back to him. And it seemed as if Moyes was frustrated with it all but he’s the manager and ultimately he has to bear some responsibility.

Moyes bears all the responsibility for tactics and lack of substitutions of course. Looking back now the anger and disappointment levels have lowered I can see the logic in the game plan while also taking into account the state of the squad / player availability….it was always going to be an intense first game so soak up the inevitable pressure, hit them on the break and try and grab a goal later in the game.

Not sure the atrocious passing or JOB’s poor throw-ins referred to in the Daniel Storey article is all Moyes’ fault, that’s on the players. Most of them were way off it on Monday.

Whatever this transfer committee is, it best get its finger out or it’s going to be another massive struggle this season. We’re short in the areas everyone has mentioned, which we may get away with if everyone’s fit but as we’ve already seen we’re not getting through a season without injuries and we haven’t got a squad capable of covering them.

14 wins, 8 draws and 6 defeats for De Rossi when he took over Roma. Then he drew 1 and lost 3 of his first 4 matches of the following season before the Friedkins sacked him.

Moyes might want to be careful with this transfer stuff.
