He’s absolutely nothing like obrien
As I said in the transfer thread, the role of a full back has changed now.

As a loan possibly, but he's not a brilliant right back , come on now....built a good partnership with a prime Saka...
But injured a lot . ... Just a better JOB as he has played the role for a lot more years . Even JOB would look good if he plays the role for 4 years eventually..

Yeah but what you said isn't necessarily true... Newcastle play with Livramento and Hall, they are much more the profile we need than someone like Ben White.
I mean surely you see the difference?
Just because the top teams who dominate possession like CBs comfortable on the ball playing as full backs doesn't mean that works for others... We have zero attacking threat from either full back position so the obvious thing is to get someone who can provide that, not someone who is good in a completely different environment.
I'm not saying Ben White is a crap footballer, I'm saying not only is he not the profile we need in terms of transfer fee, wages and age profile, but the type of player he is doesn't match what we need.
On loan sure, better than JOB and I'd be more than happy to do that... Signing for something like £30m, £150k a week wages? Bizarre.

Arsenal aren’t letting him go considering the injuries they have had all season I would rather the lad from Coventry but anything at this stage would be an upgrade

Watch arsenals full backs next time you see them play.
See how attacking they are and the positions they get into.
White has been doing it for years.
As I say, the role has changed over years and has a lot more to it than flying down the wing putting crosses in.

Newcastle
Villa
Spurs
All play with 'proper' full backs.
The role has changed over the years for some teams, we aren't one of those, we're much more like the rest of the league who play without the ball more than with it. Therefore we need full backs that reflect that.
I feel you're just arguing for arguings sake though. As always someone posts something that doesn't make any sense and then no one bothers to address the points raised because there's no actual argument for them.
Do you really genuinely think we should spend tens of millions on Ben White, give him top earner wages, and that he'd solve the issues we have at full back?

Getting a technically excellent defender to just lump it to the big man who isn't great at holding it up?
SURELY Everton would not do that?

I’m not arguing mate.
Don’t think Ben white and Jake obrien are similar players so thought I’d point that out

Well no I'll agree you're right on that part, I meant more as tall players who aren't traditional full backs and don't give us the type of attacking input a more traditional one would.
They're night and day in terms of ability in that position so fair point.

When talking about potential players on here they seem to constantly be discussed in terms of finance rather than ability.....understandable under the kenwright regime and moshiri's.....
nowadays i believe EFC are more financially stable and prudent on their acquisitions and this will only get better under the new regime as they "fully bed in".....and before it gets slung about what about barry alcaraz aznou etc etc etc.....remember these fit the profile of what many on here expect us to buy..... and after the fact knowledge is easy to ridicule.......if i could bottle it i'd be able to bottle it and buy everton meself...

Arsenal aren't letting him go mid season.
Pointless even discussing it.

I've watched Coventry lad a few times on TV, not seeing anything but a Championship player.
