Sad to hear this. R.I.P. and much sympathy for his family.
Great loss to the theatre .

Have made it known what i thought of him as chairman.
But really sad to see his wifes post, and the outpouring of love for him is very nice. He was obviously a good, kind man.
RIP Bill.

Plenty of other threads about how good or otherwise he was.
RIP Bill, an Evertonian.

There is a big difference when looking at Bill’s relationships on a personal level and then Bill in a work capacity.
There is no doubt that he touched a lot of peoples lives in a very positive way, and seemed to be a wonderful person who had time for anybody.
However, his Love and passion for Everton clouded his judgement in terms of never passing over the baton/chairmanship. It is quite indicative that he hung onto it right until his death, just being unable to let go of the main thing in his life.
It is really sad and regrettable how it ended for Bill. I prefer to remember his passion for the club in the Moyes years rather than the latter years where his legacy was damaged.
RIP Bill.

They dimmed the lights at not just West End shows, but some off broadway theatres (for the first time ever) in his memory.
Seeing the reach he had, it surprising he was never made a Sir tbh.
