I think those wanting him out of the team need their brains testing.

Relying on McNeil worldies from 25 yards.
Boss.

He's effective. Not many of our players are.
I went to go like this post again with the thread bumped, but I already did.
I'm not trying to apologise for coaching but good lord so few players in this side have an eye for goal, and as one of the few in the team that does he's proving to be a huge miss right now.

Doesn't have to be that but taking a shot would be a start at times.

I don't understand this comment.
So you'd rather not have an attacking threat?

No.
Of course I want him back in the side.
But it's telling when you're basically hoping he will pop one in from 25 yards as your only real genuine hope of getting a goal. Says a lot about the situation.

Yeah, it says more about the state of the squad when we're wanting a slow, one footed player who's scored just over 20 career goals and 30 assists back in the team.

We need to play the cards we have.
My initial comment was regarding the people wanting him out of the team.
I hope now they've changed their minds.
Nowhere was I championing the idea of hoping for 25 yarders, but the added threat is a benefit to us.

He's fucking crap.
Can deliver a set piece tho tbh.

I’d say he’s bang average rather than fucking crap but if Dwight McNeil’s the answer I’m not sure what the question is

"Who is capable of putting in a set piece delivery that might result in a goal?"
"Who can shoot from outside of the box AND get it on target?"
"Who looks knackered from the moment the game starts?"

All good points…but
Is Dwight McNeil the difference between survival & relegation?

Is he better in the side, or out?

Probably in but not a massive difference. He’s been pretty poor whenever he’s returned from injury before - even when he’d been playing well before the injury so no great expectations tbh.
Or maybe I’m rapidly losing optimism that things are going to turn around any time soon

Deffo rather have him back in and around the side for his set piece deliveries but I'm not dropping Ndiaye (who is playing out of position) for him, and tbh I'm not dropping Doucs (who is playing out of position) for him, although he was rubbish today and I'm sure many would drop him instantly.
Id rather he be left to whip crosses and Ndiaye was central but, that's not happening.
