Twice that half he'd have been in of he'd timed his run correctly.

First time KDH breaking through the middle and Beto goes way too early so if passed to he'd be offside.

Second KDH on the right looking to whip it across and he's so late to make the run the defender is able to block the pass.

He tried hard, and his overall game is better than Barry's, but oh for a striker who makes the right runs and also can do the physical side too... Always having to choose between one or the other with neither being good enough.

Haha. Barry couldn’t do that, yet

Shout out to the big man for that goal.

His best goal yet and his best performance I think.

16 goals for him and Barry in the last 22 games.

Don’t see why we should be spending money on a striker this summer.

Great footwork wasn't it. Can't always say that but it was sharp, and sharp awareness for the ball through to him from Tarks. That ball was almost directly from the tackle he made to win it, didn't even give Palace the sniff that he was trying to play it through to Beto.

Wonder how many of Beto's goals are from similar balls this season?

Certainly not big money needing to be spent until the defence is sorted, and if we can utilise Beto in this manner more often, happy days.

In saying that we do probably need an extra 10-15 goals across the team if we're going to climb the ladder next season (another 7 or 8 from our strikers).

New fullbacks, a ball player for the middle, Grealish back, and a CB to replace Keane’s squad role and we should be in excellent shape.

Great goal, the run, the strength and then the cut back were all outstanding.

But... My point still stands about him making the wrong runs or timing them wrong too often. He could have been in 3 times against Palace, but twice timed his run wrong, much to the frustration of KDH on the second one where he throws his arms in the air in exasperation. This happens every game where someone has a go at him because he has no idea how to make a run unless it's from one specific type of pass more often than not.

We desperately need a rounded competent first choice striker this summer. Credit to Beto, he's hit his yearly patch of form and hopefully added a few quid to his transfer fee. If sold he gets a lot of gratitude from me for the goals last season, and his recent form.

Absolutely no way should we be going to next season with Beto and Barry as our striker line up though.

100% agree. They go through too long a spell with not scoring or doing anything for the team

I want a striker with a good first touch.

Blaming Beto for KDH being unable to release the ball to a striker the lives and breathes balls in behind is a bit sly.

You know what he wants and what he needs to score and it was on about 4 times. Find a fucking pass please.

Not at all, it was really fucking obvious on both occasions.

Beto just doesn't time his runs or make the right ones, except for that longer straight ball on a quick turnover.

Anyone running with the ball inside the opposition half will look up and 9/10 Beto will either have not made the right run, or made it at completely the wrong time.

His movement is genuinely appalling.

You can't just have one type of pass that can only be made once every few games that a striker can time his run properly on.

Well I see it happen week in week out, a d his teammates remonstrating with him about it. So just because you don't see it doesn't mean it's not a thing.

There were definitely a couple of moments yesterday where Beto was on his heels tbf.

He's started 8 PL matches in a row now and scored in 5 of them, scoring 6 goals. You can't really fault that from a striker. It's a shame that's the second year in a row where it's taken him until like February/March to get going.
