Ndiaye feels like he's off and we probably want someone lined up first if so.

Grealish is still an unknown, decent chance he comes back but there were rumours about Atleti and Villa showing interest in him.
If Ndiaye goes for say £70 m we would be able to out bid Villa for Grealish and have change to replace Illi , Ndiaye has had over four weeks off now so should be with the squad by now for pre season.

If there’s any competition for Grealish and he’s open to moving, he’s not coming back.

Our entire sales pitch is he can stay where he’s settled and still play at a decent level.

As soon as he gives the okay to going back to Birmingham or moving abroad to Madrid, we’re out of the running.

Usually those deals happen in the last few weeks.

I doubt we'd even consider offers for McNeil right now given Ndaiye may well be off and Grealish isn't confirmed to be coming back.

You'd hope by the end of the window he'll have been sold and we'd have strengthened out wide, but I don't think the former will happen unless the latter does first.

Tim's been linked again with Hull, so apart from maybe Alcaraz I'm not sure we've got anyone else we could feasibly sell for money. Patterson maybe? Feels like we'd struggle to get anything other than a loan offer for him though.

Here's a positive spin I'm going to put forward about the Johnston signing (if it happens).

We clearly can't spend what we all want on a class RB, so we're signing this guy as he'll be a solid and decent enough player.

Ndaiye will leave and we've decided that we'll use those funds to purchase a new winger, and then an attacking top class left back.

Now will this happen? Who knows, probably not 🤣

If Ndaiye is leaving though you have to wonder why we're spending about £15m on an RB instead of waiting and splurging £25m+ on one.

So until proven otherwise I'm blindly believing we've already decided to spend a good chunk of the Ndaiye money on a new LB.

Or we sign Johnston and Norgaard, sell Ndiaye, and loan Grealish

Where’s the Ndiaye money Dan??

Ii don’t think Moyes is even considering a left back.

100%. Mykolenko and Aznou this season.

He's had a year 'on the grass' so has served his Moyes style probation.

Exactly we are not looking for a new LB guys....

and we'll all have to pray that Johnston and hope he can play in this league, and if he can't well tough cus we will just be stuck with him like Patterson.....and won't be signing a New RB for the foreseeable.....

Yeah I know it's unlikely, but the potential Johnston signing does ask the question of what will we spend the Ndaiye money on if he leaves?
