We barely have a squad by the looks of it. I count 15 in the first team.

Cods wrote: Mon Jun 16, 2025 11:48 am I think the idea that we are an ageing squad will certainly shift very soon, as we've let go 9 of our 11 oldest players, only Pickford and Tarky are confirmed to remain. Hope Gana does, but he's ageless, and I don't think Seamus will actually play.

Apart from those mentioned, our next oldest is Beto at 27, Myko at 26 and Iliman and Dwight at 25; both of whom are younger the league average of 26.6.

We actually have quite a young squad as it stands currently.
Maybe and I'm not against bringing in an experienced player or two but would prefer if we were looking at players on an upwards trajectory generally.

Had a little look at Grealish fbref earlier, see what his numbers are like.

Based on the last 12 months, during which time pep has seen fit to bomb him out, Jack Grealish has put up numbers on the ball I could only describe as a fucking joke.

99th percentile progressive carries
87th percentile progressive passing
92nd percentile key passes
89th percentile passes into penalty box
87th percentile progressive passes
92nd percentile shot creating actions
99th percentile shot creating actions from open play

Listen he's not a lightning quick superstar but I honestly think he would make a massive massive difference to how this side plays on the ball.

He’s a great player and don’t think he’s close to being past it or disinterested. Just can’t see him coming here

We need players we can rely on first and foremost if we've got a small squad, that means some experienced players who because of their contract status are relatively cheap.

Then a couple of Onana type signings who are young fairly expensive but will definitely contribute and can be flipped for profit down the line.

The rest then made up of raw young talents that are more risky but not key to what we hope to achieve next season and don't cost a great deal.

It's a little from column A (Coufal, this 32 year old LB), a little from column B (Barry, Douk), and a smattering of column C (no idea who for this and really none of us should as they'll be pretty unknown).

Obviously we need a CM or 2 so maybe one from column A and one from B here.

According to the Sun he's signed one year deal. God help us if this is what we have to expect under TFG.

Yep, we need 10 or so. Lots of good decisions and a lot of work required over a small amount of time to get us kicking from the off.

Fuck would rather have tried to keep Young at the club than a finished Walker.

I've had a long hard think about this and I don't like it.

Meh, he’d probably be decent if we sign him.

Our obsession with old full backs looks like it's here to stay.

I mean.

He's still good, goodish?

But he's a twat and he's on the downturn.

Suppose every signing we make isn't gonna be in this mould but would have expected better.

It's the sun though so let's wait and see.

He's not though. He's well past his sell by date and he's rapidly on the decline. Definitely don't want to be the shite, past it ex-City player's retirement home.

Would definitely have rather kept Ashley Young.

I don't want John Fucking Stones either.
