Don’t see it as a backwards step, it’s one position out of 23 that we stay where we are, there’s enough work to be done than wasting time and money on a fourth choice CB when we have one.

Yeah, it's actually quite a strange one from his point of view, you'd think he'd have a bit of awareness that the fans get on his back quickly and he'd be happy to get away from that kind of environment.

It just seems such a weird decision for him. He could be our best player next season at this point and he's not going to win people over. He's been here too long we all know what he does and doesn't offer and he gets grief for his lapses. Such a strange scenario

Probably happy hardly playing for a bigger club instead of going into the pressure cooker of playing every week for a newly promoted side.

It's not. It's a sidewards step, because we can't bring in 74 players in one window.

Branthwaite missed a fair few matches last season. Tarkowski coming back from a muscle injury. No dependable RB as things stand which means O'Brien could be required to play there for a good chunk. Not seeing the "He's only 4th choice, he'll barely play" argument.

I don’t like it but I understand it.

Rome wasn’t built in a day, and nor will we be back at the top in one transfer window.

One less thing to worry about and provides cover in that CB slot.

Plus he’s going to be earning a lot of money in comparison for a 4th choice defender so if he hardly plays then it’s not worth it.

As much as I don't want him to stay he does come across as a decent guy.

This is what the lads liking the post above don’t get Keane will probably play 10/15 games next season because of injuries and suspension cup games etc if this isn’t a backwards step I don’t know what is

He didn't even play 15 league games last season and that was with Branthwaite injured at the start and JOB not in Dyche's plans.

Good to have a bit of depth in at least one area of the squad. Has some awful moments but also games where he's perfectly solid and is a good passer of the ball.

We weren't getting a better 4th choice CB so if he's happy to play that role and is on sensible wages then it makes a lot of sense.

Quite like that thought, nothing wrong with keeping your wife and kids settled in a happy place rather than be of the money grabbing type that would uproot them for tge sake of a last big pay day in Saudi or US.
