I can see the press conference already.

“Kyle, welcome to Everton. I would just like clarification on an incident….”

Guardian saying we are assessing and considering 4 RBs - Walker, Kenny Tete, Coufal and Walker-Peters.

Would be Walker-Peters all day for me, from that selection.

The guy with 6 assists in his last 5 premier league seasons?

Edit - Kyle Walker only has one more tbf.

I never thought I'd say this, but can I hear more from Gareth, please?

I was full of optimism for this summer but I feel it draining away. I hope I'm proved wrong.

Massive bellend or not he hugely improves the squad. No-one is touting him as a long term option because he isn’t one. And I reckon those who hate him for whatever reason or claim he is done for whatever reason, would soon have to admit that he is one of our best players if he came.
He's a man of low morals, a stereotypical modern footballer, the type that gets the good ones a bad name, I'm surprised Moyes is even interested in him given how he tends to like players who'll bring some standards and morals and not be a distraction off the pitch. I've always said Walker is one of those player's whole be bankrupt within 5 years of retiring, trouble just seems to follow him around. Plus he's done at this level, 4 assists in the last four seasons and they were all 23/24 for a player who likes to get forward in a free scoring team, technically he's never been that good a footballer but relied on his pace which he's losing. Even if he did become one of our best players it's more a reflection on our current squad rather than Walker's abilities.

Why?

We were always going to need to look at some frees and loans to flesh the squad out.

Amazed we haven't gone for Walker-Peters.

We still might. Competent at both RB and LB.

Ideal squad player, won't move the needle but a solid 7 out of 10 every game style full back.

It's not out of the question that we sign 2 right backs, allowing Patterson a much needed loan.

Don't think Patterson has a future here sadly but the loan will at least give us a chance to assess him.

If we are trying to build something sustainable for a few years, out of those names it would be Walker Peters. There are concerns that he was poor enough last season as part of a very leaky Southampton defence but he is very good going forward and fits the Moyes model. I would be very disappointed if we sign Walker.

I think because someone like walker, it's bound to drain optimism isn't it.

Old
Expensive wages
"Prem tested"
Typical signing big clubs cast off

People want something new and walker in particular feels a lot like been rather done that got nowhere

They’re all pretty average right backs and will just be a stop gap.

Kyle Walker John Stones doesn't get the blood pumping.

Yeah, it's not the most inspiring list of RBs really. Easier said than done, but we really need the next Seamus Coleman bargain find that offers something a bit more fresh.

In a list of uninspiring choices though, perhaps the one that's just a year loan is the better option.
