Is it really. He barely played last season. His soft spot for Keane amounts to blooding new signings in slowly and thinking he's better than Holgate

Do think he was showed up today. 31 year-old manager in the opposite dug-out with Danny Welbeck up front has just slapped him about on his own turf.

Danny welbeck upfront?? Let's not pretend Brighton have a worse squad than us.

Thought we were the better team until their second goal. Their playing out from the back was suicidal. Honestly until the red I thought Brighton were shocking.

God knows what you thought of us if you tought they were shocking! Brighton's team isn't much better than ours on paper. They have Jason Steele in goal and James Milner at CM for goodness sake. Mitoma and Minteh/Adingra make the difference but elsewhere... Meh.

I know that the protectors of any manager in charge of us always like to make out we have a League One squad during bad runs though.

Just the pace and goal threat then. I'm not actually defending him. Just think Brighton were pretty shit too and if they continue playing like that from the back they'll be in for a long season

Brighton were crap until the second goal and red in quick succession.

TheRam wrote: Sat Aug 17, 2024 5:21 pm Keane was terrible like the rest of the defence.

People are saying he played well to go against the grain.

Constantly out of position and weak in the tackle.

He shouldn’t be starting games for us when we’ve just signed a centre half.

He is terrible.
Late to arrive on every 50/50 ball that I’m convinced O’Brian would have reacted faster and won, will give him the couple of long range passes though, not his fault Dom couldn’t do much with them.

A bit early for the doom and gloom like. Lots of the same issues but also some signs of life especially with a few players out. Pretty obvious Keane isn't starting games as a long term thing.

Pretty sure we'll be losing comfortably away at Spurs and Villa, so that Bournemouth home game in a couple of weeks already looks very important.

Missed the game, sons birthday party.

Should we be worried, or write it off as a bad day?

Bad day.

Started well, had the better chances in the first half, just got caught on the counter where they were just faster than us.

Second half, started well again, had a good pen shout but gifted them a second and it all went to pot.

We didn’t play bad, Brighton weren’t great.

3-0 massively flatters them.

Nothing I’m overly concerned about other than certain players getting more minutes than they should.

Starting with Keane and young, Holgate coming on, that’s a bit of a worry.

This cunt could win the braps a handsome bastard cup for Everton football club and I will never, ever take to him. Horrible breed of southern kopite. Dog of a player. Dog of a manager.

Get us in to that new shed and fuck off.

Terrible man management to sub on Holgate as well. Sure he loved coming on to boos at 0-2 down and 10 men. He obviously lost the players at one point last season (before getting them back onside) and I wouldn't be surprised if it happens again this season.

Has Holgate played a minute of pre season btw?

Christ honestly one week without the 'well who could possibly play there?!' question.

Build a squad please I am begging you

Just more of the same deepening shit that's been gaining momentum since pretty much the start of the PL. We can't go into any game, even at home, with any certainty that we'll win.
My favourite games were never the big games. I liked the games against the likes of Brighton, West Ham even Villa to an extent. Games when we'd put on a performance and see a few goals, even some big second half performances, but we don't even have those anymore. Three goals without reply at Goodison is just a shrug of the shoulders to me now.

It’s the start of the 2024/25 season and Michael Keane and Mason Holgate featured in defence while the new promising defender O’Brien spends the whole game on the bench.
