Not completely but it'd also be pretty dumb not to consider how our current squad would fit... Everyone's complained about lurching from one playing style to another in the past, not sure why we shouldn't take current squad ability in to consideration all of a sudden.

I'd take him don't get he wrong but only if confident we could get the recruitment right... But I don't have that confidence and think Potter would make much more sense.

I'd be fine with Carsley, Potter, or Frank. You could make an argument for any of them, and said argument doesn't make me want to hide under the bed and weep.

It should be a case of, where do we want to be and how are we going to get there? And you pick a coach you think can progress you towards that goal, ideally take you all the way but if not then should at least get you down the path.

When Liverpool hired klopp they did not have a klopp team. When city hired pep they did not have a pep team. When Brighton hired potter they definitely did not have a Potter team. Go and look at it, they had an absolutely stinking squad with one or two decent players and a gem or two e.g. Gross I think?

It's fine to take into account what you need to do to your squad to get where you want to go, but you don't hire a manager for your shit squad. It starts with strategy (we want to be a pressing team / counter attacking team / possession team who do x y z) not tactics (mykolenko has to kick the ball here).

Which is why I think Potter is a much more logical choice, he's shown adaptability and an ability to get his philosophy across to lesser players whilst then gelling more suitable additions.

Carsley hasn't shown that level of adaptability anywhere nor has he even managed club football. His style of football is admirable, it's something we'd all love, but there's nothing to show so far in his career he can adapt and still get results within his philosophy.

He might be able to, it's an unknown which makes it a pretty large risk. I personally wouldn't want us gambling on so many unknowns. I don't think it makes sense when there's other managers available who have already demonstrated they can do what we want without those same risk factors.

Personally I think a lot of our problems stem from being a bit of a fusty old boys club of a club, with an ageing fanbase, and too much of a focus on tradition and passion, which sometimes feels a bit obsessional.

I believe it really holds us back that we used to be a very big club, because it often leads to desperately holding on to ideas that proved successful in the past.

Next season: New stadium, new staff, new players - its all coming together lids!

Potter, Carsley, Frank for me.

Either of them I would be pleased with and excited.

Excited for the coaching, and for the players to improve and to show their talents in a better system.

Excited to have a new younger guy in charge, new atmosphere around the club as we move stadiums. New owners etc. Its a positive step!

I would be absolutely fucking gutted if we play safe here, and get Moyes back, or Jose or even Carlo (i love him but...)

Take a risk. We may as fucking well. And actually its a calculated risk... because the three of them are qualified for this job.

Potter in summer with money to spend and I’m happy. Frank would be sound too but would cost compo. Carsley is no for me given lack of experience.

Thelwell can continue to look at players off his list in January if the deals are right.

Carsley seems like a mad shout. Never seen anyone suggest someone with his level of experience before so really it's because he used to play here. We aren't in a position to gamble. Potter seems the most realistic 1. He's got experience and he's free
