But she must have at least considered it to rule it out.

As the best finisher at the club, with daylight second, surely it's in our interests to get him fit and put him near the top end.
Provided FFP is clear, he could actually save us. We need clever and clinical playing off either of the big fellas.

This just makes no sense to me whatsoever. Classic sunk cost fallacy.

Good luck to Dele, but we have to be led by the financials and there must be better and younger options out there for the money. We have to be looking at the next generation of playmakers looking for a stepping stone team, as with Onana.
This is where our league position hurts us yet again; not being able to start negotiations like this early, and having to wait until the end of the season for certainty on next year's income.

That's definitely the ideal, a hungry young player, but we've not got an open transfer window, and one actually needs to be identified that wants to come to us and also won't send us over the financial cliff, when it does open. Finding a Branthwaite equivalent doesn't appear to be an easy short term proposition.
No one on the books seemingly can finish either at the moment. It may get to the point where Dele is asked to pull us from the flames. Hopefully before then Beto and Dom, and others start putting some away, but Dele is far from the worst fail-safe, we know what he is capable of compared with untried and untested.
Break glass in case of emergency. If our financial fire starts burning I doubt we'd be able to stop it.

Because we pay him a reported £100k a week, with a 90% wage/turnover ratio, he's done absolutely nothing for surely going on 5-6 years now, and the rumours are we want to sign up for another go.
We're literally dodging INTO bullets.

Strange, even if he was to come back from injury this season and play I can’t imagine he would be available for a significant amount of games to potentially trigger the payments for Spurs.
I wonder, if we were going to offer him a new contract after his current deal expires if that might release us from any obligation to pay Spurs a significant amount of money if he did eventually play 20 times for Everton.
