The RB situation is a little odd, but I think to a degree Moyes does like JOB there too adding the extra height and presence of a CB ala Lescott years ago when he was played at LB. With Coleman and Patterson sticking around and not going on loan, that may have been another factor in the decision as we still have to work within a budget.
It does obviously cost us something attacking wise, but there is that extra CB benefit on set pieces. Plus if Ndiaye is ahead of him it's not like he doesn't like taking on 2 or 3 players so having someone a little more defensive behind him may not be the worst thing.

It seems like they tried until the last minute to get a RB in given the Patterson deal was all set up but alas we keep our powder dry. I’m very happy with Röhl especially given that Soucek for 20m+ was the alternative. It’s been a great window overall and one of the best for a long long time imo. We still could have done with some extra padding overall but that’s me being greedy. Same again next summer and we’ll be right up there.

It’s a solid 7/10 for me but has the potential to be looked back on as an 8 or even 9/10.
Best window since the first one under brands and silva where we brought in Bernard, Zouma, Richy, Digne, Gomes and Mina.
£100m spent on players 23 and under in Barry, Dibling, Rohl, and Aznou. Grealish and KHD as your plug and play immediate improvements who are on another level to the players we’ve had previously.
Who knows what we’ve got with Grealish. May well have the best player we’ve seen for decades. Dibling a potential superstar but think it will take a while before we see what he’s about. KDH, good, solid worker who has quality on the ball. Barry raw but you can already see the player in there, and I expect Rohl to add much needed physicality and pace in the midfield.
Feel like we’ve maybe signed too many players who occupy the same position but I trust moyes has a plan for them all.
The lack of defenders brought in was a disappointment and I think they made a mess out of that right back situation.
Things could get ropey with a few injuries but when you’ve had one of the best defences in the league and one of the worst attacks, you have to put most of your money on the ball players and scorers.
Looking forward to what the season brings. So nice to have a summer where we could go out and be competitive in the market without the impending doom of points deductions and financial collapse casting a shadow.
It’s mad to see how far we’ve come in a year. This time last year it was completely different.

Just find it odd that we had a verbal agreement with Tete way back in June.
It shows we wanted a RB.
Just seems odd that when that went tits up, there wasn't a single other RB in the whole stratosphere of football that we couldn't identify and sign?
Really strange one that.
But hopefully it gets rectified in Jan or at least next summer.
Other than that I think it's been a good window.
Didn't think at any point we'd be able to land a player like Grealish at all and him alone has me excited to watch games again.
Think if we can get some good luck with injuries we should be on for a good season.

We can only guess what happened. But I think given how much better than before I think we can give some benefit of doubt to them.
My guess is that we spoke to Tete and either he wanted too much or Moyes didn’t get good vibes from him.
Then I think we had identified Juanlu. Supposedly he didn’t want to come to England but if Liverpool or Man City went for him then he would have said yes. Maybe we thought signing Grealish and co we could then go back. Fort fisher etc look good but not as good as him and maybe their clubs wanted too much. So maybe we smash it until xmass then go back in for Juanlu in January.

Flap thread can now be locked?
Judging them at the end I think its fair to say its been a very solid window.
We've got Seamus, Garner, Röhl, JOB and Patterson who can play at RB to varying degrees. Moyes likes a versatile player and Garner and Röhl are certainly that.
If we've got the funds next window then fullbacks and maybe a poacher striker can be improved upon, options at least. Barry will get assists I'm sure, he's already looked far from raw with his deft touches and smart play, but would be good not to mainly have goals just from midfield. Maybe he'll suprise me further.
Need a Gana replacement (good luck) but I half suspect Moyes has his designs on Röhl in that position long term, he's been working towards improving his defensive skills recently, where initially he was more of an attacking midfielder. Loving the Röhls Royce Merlin engine.
Happy with the window and happy with the age and potential. Backroom will be able to get settled in and focus on their roles. Liking our squad. Exciting times.
Hope we don't get too hasty with the younguns though. It'll take time.

So full strength as it stands is probably:
Pickford
O'Brien Tarkowski Branthwaite Myko
Garner Gana
Ndiaye KDH Grealish
Barry
Subs: Travers, Keane, Coleman, Dibling, Rohl, Beto, Iroegbunam, Aznou, McNeil. (That's the max amount of subs, Patterson left out).
Need some luck with injuries, e.g. Barry or Beto gets injured and we don't have a striker sub and no-out ball. But the squad looks the best we've had for years.
*Oops, missed Alcaraz off as well.

Was Armstrong the only youth that went out on loan?

Onyango went to Stockport and Heath to Accrington
@The Doc I think Rohl is the "break glass in emergency" striker

If you look at the right backs we were linked with they were all very attacking right backs, I don't recall us being linked with anybody who was known more for their defending like Tete - I don't also recall many players like that being available at all really.
Maybe that's it? He wanted a super defensive right back and couldn't find one, O'Brien fills that role

There's also an argument that we don't need overlapping fullbacks to create space in quite the same way when our wingers are swapping sides and interlinking to create space themselves.
With our forwards and KDH preferring to run onto the ball at feet, having a fullback get to the byline and whip it in isn't as useful as it has been in previous years.

I'm so pleased with the club, can't remember when we've had so many top class players arrive at once? Now i'm looking forward to having a good season, yes there will be hiccups along the way, but all in all a good window

Let's be honest, the club's boss.
We've got an amazing new stadium, a team of low sock ballers and dribble merchants and to top it all off we've thrown a mythical medieval wizard in there.

For when Beto, Barry AND Keane are injured.

The thing that really stands out to me is that we've swapped:
KDH for Doucoure
Grealish for Harrison
Dibbling for Lindstorm
Barry for DCL
4 attacking players who played a significant or key role last season and failed to contribute much in terms of goals or assists.
It's quite a remarkable uptick in quality and already we've seen how that translates on the pitch.
I'd like to know where we're at from a PSR perspective, it feels like we've probably saved a lot of money getting rid of Doucoure and DCL's wages. Saved around £250k a week I'd imagine, then are probably paying Barry and KDH about half that combined.
Harrison's wages were zero, so probably Dibbling is on what we paid Lindstrom, but we're paying Grealish something like £150k a week, maybe £200k. Young was on £65k though and so we've saved there.
Hard to know really but feels like we've probably saved a little but not a lot on the wage bill, and spent a fair whack on transfers. Would love to see how this was achieved within PSR so we know where we stand moving forward, but that's for another day.
Just happy we've signed exciting players and very nearly covered everything we needed in one window.
