Indeed! It’s amazing how much people are persuaded by the press. People listen to Lee Dixon slagging off Pickford for 90 minutues and believe he’s shit. I think I posted a while back but a lot of foreign press voted him best keeper at the last 2 world cups. But in England he’s awful. Not perfect at all but fuck watch the highlights from that Chelsea game again if your ever losing faith. We’ve got 99 problems but the number 1 ain’t 1

There is middle ground in all of this, the shouts of 'he's shit' are largely in response to the over the top praise he gets from a lot, imo. He is an average premier League keeper, that means he'll have some moments of brilliance and moments of madness, what makes the greats great is they minamalise the moments of madness, he doesn't. His weaknesses are there for all to see, that's why nobody has ever even considered buying him despite all of our financial issues. He's not out biggest problem for sure, but that doesn't mean he's good, just a reflection of the squad

If Pickford had the personality of Pope people would rate him a lot higher. The fact he acts like a chipmunk on crack for whatever reason seems to devalue his actual goal keeping abilities in some people's eyes.
He's not an average premier league keeper, that's the likes of Pope, Ramsdale etc... he's also not in the Allison / Ederson bracket. He's somewhere in-between. A very good premier league keeper who has a few deficiencies that the very best don't have, but far more positive abilities than an average premier league keeper has.

“However, Carsley has insisted it was always his intention to give Crystal Palace keeper Henderson a game over the international break.”
Yeah so wasn’t dropped
Was always planned
Thanks for clearing that up

Surprised they haven't rotated keepers in friendlies more tbh, they know Pickford will perform for England. He's a known quantity but if he gets injured they have no clue, made sense for Carsley to bring Henderson in

CBA arsed arguing with you, couldn’t give a shit what Carsley intentions where, if he explains why he “dropped” (his words) him, it means he fucking dropped him whatever his intentions were

Must be missing something as I can’t see anything in that link where Carsley is quoted as saying Pickford was dropped. If it was always his intention to have a look at Henderson (Carsley’s words), Pickford wasn’t dropped, he wouldn’t have played even if he’d had a worldie and saved half a dozen penalties against Greece.
Agree with @AjaxAndy Pickford is better than average but below elite level.

It wasn't a friendly, it was a competitive game in the nations League that we needed to win to ensure promotion was in our own hand. It's the first time Pickford hasn't been picked for a competitive game in over 2 years. I'm assuming they don't rotate more in friendlies due to continuity in a key position, but this wasn't a friendly.

Saddens me how some "evertonians" on here are very quick to jump on the bandwagon to slate our better players.....
Pickford is...well pickford...great keeper who makes errors now and again.....as they all do...so few in fact that when he does they're constantly highlighted by the so called "experts"
Give me pickford any day of the week over nearly every premier league keepers.....in the top 3 deffo....

The nations league probably matters less than a friendly tbf
