It will all be in the detail I suppose. Given our issues would I be overly worried if we extended, absolutely not. I think hes a very talented players, he just needs a break. Ive been watching a lot of his pre season bits and he looks like hes in good shape, and could be a good addition, but that is fully dependent on what can be agreed with Spurs and him. If its any type of fee and big wages for him then id swerve, but if you could get him for free, on a modest, incentivised deal I think it would be worth another punt

He barely trained at Everton when he was at Everton I don't think he's doing much now.

Clearly a gamble we shouldn't be taking at this point.. leave it to an other club. How many years has he got left at Tottenham let them keep him , we've had too many of these players left on our books in the past and still payythe price now.

If he does make a comeback good for him just not us.

I think as mentioned above, if there's no transfer fee and some sort of very low wage with appearance bonuses, or a pay as you play deal then there's absolutely no issue with him sticking around.

We seem to have intelligent people running the club now so any deal would I'd imagine be heavily weighted in our favour for a change

I doubt there's such a thing as a pure pay as you play deal. The PFA would never allow it.

I meant signing him in the first place. It's on us that we signed a player on massive wages who'd been out of form for years and then on a weird deal which we couldn't afford to play him really.

He's contributed very little but I'm proud the club have looked after him

Who knows, but we could easily pay him £10k a week with £50k appearance bonus I'd imagine.

Nah that boat has sailed and from what I've read, he's only still with us to sort himself out, no feel for anything more permanent

Doubt he plays football again. Good luck to him in terms of getting over his issues but you can tell when someone is truly desperate to be playing again even when they're low and I don't get that vibe from him.

Wouldn't be surprised if he joins one of the newly promoted teams, Ipswich or Southampton, absolutely smashes it for one season as a big fish in a small pond, then gets picked up by an Aston Villa or a West Ham and lets his career fizzle off into the sunset.
