I give up if we pass on £20m for Munoz at 30 and sign a 29 year old Matty Cash instead

If Konsa is in at Arsenal it might be a 29 yr old Ben White here instead of Munoz.

Someone make me believe thats a good move, he comes across as a bit of a bell end and he's not above average in his attacking threat/skills. Not bad defensively but not amazing. Yes I know he's better than what we've got, but everyone we've been linked with is

It's the fact that the supposed rumored reason we are turning our noses up at Munoz is because Moyes views him as more of a "wing back"

I mean so fucking what. We need someone young and fresh next season to take the reigns regardless of how Moyes does with us this season.

Joke isn't it.

As a fullback it doesn't really change even if your role is a wing back. The game is still pretty much played infront of you.

Vetoing a player because he's good at going forward. Nightmare.

I don't think you can have a fact of a supposed rumour.

Possible, it seems like Moyes would love Ben White or Matty Cash based on our attempts to get them last season.

Also possible with both Arsenal and Villa in the CL they both just want depth, even with the likes of Wan-Bissaka coming in at Villa or Konsa at Arsenal.

Wait and see on this one for me, and hope there isn’t anything to it of substance.

The one thing I would say is that we haven’t sold any top players this year (yet). That is a huge positive. I just look at Villa and Newcastle and although they have done brilliantly in the last 3 years, it’s going to be a real challenge for them this year given the amount of turnover in their squads.

On the other hand, we have been allowed to build on last season.

I still want to keep Illi. We should never want to sell our best players unless it is in our interest to do so.

So whilst we can all meltdown at the players that we don’t yet have, or might be getting, it’s worth remembering that we still have a solid base of a fairly decent squad.

What I would say is that people keep expecting us to sign these older players throughout the last few windows based on assumptions of what Moyes would want (Soucek, Coufal, Wan Bissaka, Walker, Cash and countless others).

Just looking at the actual evidence though, the players we've signed permanently (including last summer) have been aged 19, 19, 20, 22, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26 and the one outlier is Norgaard at 31, who is 5 years younger than the player we've bought him to replace.

So it doesn't really point to these 29/30 year olds we keep getting linked with and not signing. We could've signed Wan Bissaka at any point in the summer and we haven't. It seems like they're always aiming for younger.

You're right 🤣🤣 made me laugh that at least.

I'm just so frustrated about it all at the moment. 🤪

The interest in Johnson from Celtic was confirmed by credible sources, including their manager.

Does seem like they’re scrambling around at the moment.

I get our CEO has said otherwise so hopefully that isn’t the case.

It’s certainly a bold move to start the season so neglected in one area of the pitch waiting for the right player when you had a year to identify and move on targets.

All we be forgiven if we get Doue after no CL or Europa teams come in for him.

(Still manifesting)

Yeah, fair point. I've no doubt they're looking at numerous different options and probably some late 20s players are in that mix, if it turns out we can't get the first choice.

My interpretation of what Kinnear said with regards to right backs is that they're trying to get the best player they can (presumably Doue), but there's alternatives still available if we can't get a top level player.

I think we all agree we needed a right back in by now, and even if we bring one in now he's probably not going to play first team until after the international break. That's less than ideal, for sure.

The only way the fanbase will be placated really with regards to a RB is if we do pull a top quality one out of the bag. I think people will accept the delay if we do that. If we wait til late August and then end up getting a player we could've signed in June, then it'll be a failure on the recruitment team's part.

Time will tell.
