If we get 6+ points from the three next games and if that includes wins against both Liverpool and Brentford - I do think we might have a chance, but it is more realistic that we end up with 55 points and end up in 8th-10th position.
Whatever we end up with I think it has been a good season looking at the results - but still the recruiting has been bad. We have used too much money on players that wont work under Moyes and we still havent resolved our left and right-back situation. Still a lot to do for Moyes during the summer and they cant miss on the transfers this summer like they did last summer. In that perspective its incredible what kind of results Moyes has managed to dig out of this group of players.

As much as I love looking up the table (for a change), we are also pretty close to those in the bottom half of the table. We have to keep our foot on the gas to avoid dropping down the table and end the season with a disappointing bottom half finish.
Finishing in the top half / Europe will mean more money and potentially better players looking at us as an option.
We have a real opportunity here to do something special and it really is in our hands, especially given who we are playing in the next 2 games!

It is pretty crazy how tight it all is from Liverpool in 5th down to Bournemouth in 13th.
I wouldn't normally count Liverpool in that mix, because we know how they are usually, but I just took at look at their fixtures out of interest and mixed into European games their remaining PL games are: Fulham, Everton, Palace, Man Utd, Chelsea, Villa and Brentford...those aren't games on their current form that are nailed on 3 pts.
Any team from 5th to 13th could put a couple of wins together and be in touching distance for CL football if Liverpool do stumble in those games. That's before we even get into the possibility of 6th place going to CL too if Villa win the EL.
That includes us. It's a little nuts.

Reckon they should get three points against those... they'll draw with Fulham, Palace and either Chelsea or Brentford.
Not sure if I dreamt it, but there was an argument that Europe could potentially go to 11th place if a string of things (unlikely as they may be) happen...

it would be just great if we can qual for the european conf league cup - clearly we will have a great chance of being successful in this comp with davy moyes as manager - proven winner
europa league - with our paper thin squad and some addisitions in the summer would be a big ask to win this - too many other good teams here not an easy cup to win
champs league - err no

If arsenal win the champions league it goes down to 6th.
If villa also win the Europa league it goes down to seven teams in the champions league.
Both are currently favourites for their respective completions.
Really isn’t that implausible that 7th could get you champions league this season which is farcical.

Nah surely it’s only if they don’t finish in a CL place in the league

Not surprised Ram is spreading misinformation with the way he's been going in recent years tbh

No it's right. Could be 7 CL places, and 11 English clubs in Europe if they all win their European comps.
Won't happen, but 6 CL places and 9 in Europe is fairly plausible.

But yeah if Villa finish 5th and win the Europa then 6th gets CL, which would be a fun dilemma for @CannockPricey to go through if we finish 6th

It’s what they said on the ramble and I’ve heard it on other podcasts.
Basically, we have five slots, villa and arsenal go in as champions of the European cup and the Europa, so we still have five slots to fill.
