Looks like they went through all the growing pains that can come with squad upheaval and a new manager, started reaping rewards, and then decided fuck it let's try something else.

They got away with regular changes of managers under Abramovich because for the most part they were the only club spanding mega money, and they were changing managers while they were on top. Things are a lot tighter at the top these days and they could end up going through a lot of managers without much success.
