Another absolute waste of money. If we’d paid circa 10m and it didn’t pay off then fine but 25m was absolutely shocking. Hopefully whoever scouted him isn’t robbing a wage from another poor club

Wouldn't mind Norwich.

Gomes
Gbamin
Godfrey
Mina

All players who should have been decent buys but injury or illness robbed us of them really being so.

We tend not to have much luck with signings and injuries unfortunately.

It was pretty clear what we were getting with Mina, was just a stupid signing in reflection, but probably worth the risk at the time, as he showed how good he was

Just mina. The numbers for gomes pre and post injury show the same player. Godfrey just isn't very good at football and gbamin at best can just be put down as who knows

Stop ffs Gomes was quality when he came first went to Barca for 50 million and you go on like he was league 2 standard

Barca fans hated him. Kramer will give you the stats. He had a freak season where the underlying numbers were much the same. Gomes is an absolute myth. Doesn't score, doesn't make goals. He's not actually quality at anything.

Seems like he's keeping fit now too

Started 13 games so far this season and 14 last so he must be getting close to that time where he picks up his annual season ending injury.

Never bought into Gomes.

Pre-covid Godfrey definitely had something about him that gave hope he was a good prospect though

Long-covid may be a convenient excuse (although it's a fucker of a long term condition), but he definitely looked to be a fraction of the player afterwards

Absolutely loved him. Genuinely gutted his career here was blighted by injuries.

We go down on the last day V Bournemouth without him. He bailed Tarkowski out loads that day.

I've had long COVID for nearly 5 years and can attest to it being a fucker, it's no wonder he never came back the same, and it without a doubt played an incredibly significant part in his development tanking.

We still talking about this anomaly?
