Wouldn't be surprised if he joins one of the newly promoted teams, Ipswich or Southampton, absolutely smashes it for one season as a big fish in a small pond, then gets picked up by an Aston Villa or a West Ham and lets his career fizzle off into the sunset.
Or “doing a Barkley” as it’s otherwise known

Doubt he plays football again. Good luck to him in terms of getting over his issues but you can tell when someone is truly desperate to be playing again even when they're low and I don't get that vibe from him.
Yeah that's the feeling i've had all along with him, no real desire to bust a gut to show everybody that he still had it and could still cut it.
I wish him well, but it's not going to work out for him here.

Clearly a gamble we shouldn't be taking at this point.. leave it to an other club. How many years has he got left at Tottenham let them keep him , we've had too many of these players left on our books in the past and still payythe price now.
If he does make a comeback good for him just not us.
He doesn't have any years at all left at Tottenham. We signed him on a permanent deal with no initial fee and instalments due based upon appearances. I'm pretty sure that if we offered him another deal, even as a free agent, there will be some sort of clause in that original deal that would trigger the additional payments as soon as he makes a few more appearances in an Everton shirt.
Although,.if we really wanted him and thought for one second that he was anywhere near back to his best, could he possibly sign for Roma as a free agent, only to be sold to Everton for a nominal fee in January?

That’d be funny if they did that, do we still own Home Farm In Ireland? possibly his current level.

I would love this lad to make it back. Sadly, I think he is too far gone now. What a great shame.

In talks with spurs over a new deal according to the echo.

There's clearly something there that they like, I'm still in the camp that thinks he has a lot to offer, and even if he never returns to his very best, he has the potential to be a lot better than our current options.
If we can secure a decent deal with him and spurs I'm well up for this

We can't be paying spurs millions to sign him. He's not worth the risk if there's a fee involved

I think it's worth giving him a couple of run outs in pre season to see how he gets on.
We can't really be paying any money for him though and he can't command the type of wages he used get but I wouldn't dismiss signing him if the deal was right for us.

Feels like we'll take care of him whatever happens and so he's in the best place for any potential comeback... But it also feels like if we can't agree a deal and he can't play for us he'll have to sign for someone else which may very well be the end of any glimmer of hope for him.
He needs to stay here, whether he ever plays for us isn't really important as if he doesn't then he most likely wouldn't wherever he went.
However Spurs need to just let him go too, there's no value in him at the moment and any resistance to allowing us to sign him for free means they get nothing anyway.
No fee, no money to be paid if he achieves x, y or z. Let the lad stay where he's happy and well looked after, give him half a fighting chance of reviving his career and the obvious positive implications that'd have on his wellbeing and life.
Then we need a very sensible deal with the player that reflects his contribution to the team, even if it's a one year deal at £10k a week and then reassess in 12 months.

Take for free with a 100% sell on fee if need be.
Contract heavily stacked towards appearance fees.

I suspect the number spurs are entitled to might be quite significant . Be surprised if it was less than 10m and could be as much as double that (we heard repeatedly that the deal for 40m+ in clauses)
Truth us though not only do spurs get nowt if he goes elsewhere but they also don't have a good bargaining position because he's probably also worth close to nowt anyway
No problem him staying but we have to drive a hard bargain. No way should we be paying him more than maybe 40 or 50k a week and at best all we should give spurs is a sell on clause and maybe something after a significant amount of appearances. If we can't get it done that way then we need to walk away

Apparently Spurs will only take a fee IF Dele is sold to another club - sounds like a good deal for all parties this.
