Going to have his critics and this post isn't meant to argue about those points... I think though there's been signs this season the football may well be better under Dyche this year with the introduction of players like Ndaiye, Lindstrom and McNeil playing centrally.

Means nothing if we don't also have a solid defence, but taking out the Southampton game with half a squad dead with the shits and youngsters playing who aren't ready, there's been some good passages of play.

Fifth game in a row, we've scored first, but: no squad depth; new signings bedding in; best player out injured

Makes it difficult to defend our lead

Last 3 games have seen some of the best football we've played under Dyche. If the cost of that is that his famous defensive stability goes away then there's not much point.

The demands are high, McNeil, Gana, Doucoure are outliers who can run for days.

It'll be tough for the new players, some will improve their stamina, others won't.

Squad is a bit limited right now, but if we get players back Dyche will need to do a good job of subbing players at the right times. Thought he did fine today but previously has been wrong.

Ndiaye, Lindstrom, Iroegbunam, Mangala all going to struggle beyond 70 minutes. Garner coming back fr9m Illness was good but think he was flagging the last 25 or so as well.

I remember him saying last season early on that he'd like to play more entertaining football but circumstances didn't allow it at the time but I think we're seeing now that he can actually play reasonable football. The problem is it's come at a cost at the back so we need to hope that when Branthwaite's back that we can become more solid defensively but given the injuries and illness we've had recently I'm not panicking yet.

The Bournemouth game and today are the best we've played under Dyche, I don't even think it's so much to do with fitness, I think we're just really mentally weak at times, both as fans and as players. He got stick for it but Dyche was right after Bournemouth, they scored and you could feel the whole mentality in the ground change. I was there and remember looking at the clock on 82 and thinking we were home and dry, as soon as they scored I was thinking about the game we had away to them under Martinez when we drew 2-2 in stoppage time, it was like it was expected. Yes he should have made changes but you could see it today too, (and against Villa) the players suddenly went from looking pretty comfortable to being all over the place, I lost count of the amount of times in the last 10 minutes players were caught in possession and we were straight back under pressure again, I don't know about at the game but you could see it on the forum as well, suddenly everyone was in a panic. Understandable after the last few results but when the players panic the fans do and the when the fans panic the players do and it becomes a vicious circle.

A large part of the current fitness problem is the extra cover the forwards are being asked to provide, particularly down the flanks. I think once we have consistency with the return of Mykolenko and A.N. right back, we'll see the likes of Ndiaye lasting longer.

Great post and pretty much sums up my own thoughts on this

I think we lack leadership on the pitch which is why we panic so much once something goes wrong... Tarks has decent leadership, but apart from the odd time Coleman plays I can't think of anyone who really stands up to be counted and drags everyone over the line with them.

Even when Coleman is on the pitch it's still 9 others that aren't leaders and go missing when things go wrong.

We really could do with a few more vocal captain types but I guess the decent players like that all cost money we don't have.

Leadership up there with passion and desire as some of my least favourite football subjects

I would look to Pickford for keeping things calm: 30 years old; 7 years with the club; 70 caps for England

All the experience, a mature and cool headed Jordan would help our cause
