New Everton prospective owners The Friedkin Group are facing pressure at AS Roma..
Everton's prospective owners The Friedkin Group are reportedly considering a shock U-turn - at AS Roma.

TFG hope to wrap up their purchase of the Toffees from majority owner Farhad Moshiri by the end of the year. The American firm, headed by Dan Friedkin, agreed to buy Moshiri's 94.1 per cent stake last month.

Should the takeover be ratified, Everton will become the second major European club under TFG's control. They have owned AS Roma since August 2020, with the Serie A side winning the European Conference League in their first season and reaching the Europa League semi-finals last term.

But TFG have faced backlash from Roma supporters of late after they made the controversial decision to sack Stadio Olimpico legend Daniele de Rossi as head coach just four games into the campaign. De Rossi, arguably the second-greatest player in I Giallorossi history behind Francesco Totti, had signed a new three-year deal in the summer but was replaced by Ivan Juric until the end of the season.

Fans in the Italian capital have protested against TFG, with supporter group Curva Sud unfurling two banners before and during Sunday's 1-0 loss against Inter Milan. In addition, they did not enter the stadium until 15 minutes into the encounter.

And according to Italian press agency Adnkronos (via Planet Roma), TFG are weighing up whether to reinstall De Rossi in the hot seat amid a ‘new crisis’. It is reported that Friedkin could bring back De Rossi alongside a new CEO after Lina Souloukou stepped down in the aftermath of De Rossi’s departure.

It is suggested that the return of De Rossi would be a ‘relaunch of the Friedkin’s commitment and the substantial admission of the error committed in the management that led first to the removal of the ownership and then to the sacrifice of De Rossi’.

Tbf it’s a lot of drama about sacking a manager.

I think most of this hate is coming from the Roma Ultras. It's mainly because of how much of a legend he is in those parts they feel he's been unfairly treated.

Whatever the reasons they had for sacking him I wouldn't put too much stock in taking that as gospel that they will make shit on the field decisions here.

Let's wait and see

They should just appoint Totti as manager. Thats what Mosh would’ve done.

Despite personal scepticism over them buying Everton and not seeing this as a good move at all, I take little pleasure in these posts, but there is more wood being chucked on the fire than you'd hope

Everton have been warned that they will soon “find out who they are dealing with” in The Freidkin Group, by Maurizio Gasparri.

The Italian Forza Italia politician told Rai Radio1, via Roma News (21 October), that he supported the recent protest from Roma ultras, who left their section of the stadium empty for 15 minutes in the 1-0 loss to Inter a day earlier, and would have liked to join them.

He indicated his wish for the American club owners, who have agreed a deal to buy Farhad Moshiri’s shares at Everton, to leave and deal with the Toffees while expressing his “great regret” at what is in store on Merseyside.

Gasparri said: “I agree with yesterday’s judgment of the Curva Sud, who missed 15 minutes because they detest this Roma management.”

“I would have gone to the Curva to hold up the banner against these Friedkins who leave the sooner the better.

“They bought Everton, let them deal with that. I say this with great regret for the Everton fans who will find out who they are dealing with. Vox populi, vox dei”.

We've dealt with worse. Be our best owners for 30 years by just not being inept liars

This just seems like a case of bat shit crazy supporters rather than bat shit crazy owners.

Feels like it bears very little relevance to our club and doesn't bother me in the slightest. Obviously appointing a manager on sentiment and then sacking him almost immediately is a bit of a red flag, but at least they acted on it and didn't leave it ages because they were too scared to rectify their mistake.

Probably had their noses put out of joint when Friedkin bought us.
If he'd bought us, gone on to buy Roma and sacked Duncan Ferguson in between, I'd imagine our ultras would have the bed sheets out by now.

Great player and a legit icon but it all seems a bit OTT. He wasn’t doing that well either was he?

Again. Doing some digging it seems this is the Roma ultras leading this and based purely on Di Rossi's legendary status.

Nah, it’s a red flag. They went from Mourinho to a completely different profile in De Rossi and then sacked him after 3 matches this season (after he’d done great so far) to bring in a random with a rubbish record. Italian football ultras are nuts but let’s not look at this with blue tinted glasses. It’s a poor way to run a club.

Hopefully they have more of a plan when it comes to us.
