Surely he's less likely cos they've hired and sacked him
And he basically called them a bunch of clowns who know nothing about football

I think Dyche will likely be gone next season, likely even before then if results don't pick up, but just curious if anyone thinks he does have a potentially higher ceiling to him..? I don't really have the super strong opinions on him as others, I do think in general the work he's done here under these conditions does warrant a little leeway though.
He's never really had proper backing, and I do wonder if he could take a step up to a level where he has us competing for European places if given a better toolset to work with. I doubt we're ever going to go toe to toe in style or quality of players to some of the elite teams, so chasing that seems a bit of a dead end right now. I wonder if he could be more of a Simeone type that had us playing more solidly but had something about us in attack/counter attack too (if we could finally afford a few players who had some pace).

Well, he has a fully fit squad at his disposal this weekend. Now’s a good a time as any to show what he can do. No more excuses!

Personally he's never done anything to deserve being given the chance at stepping up.
When Burnley qualified for Europe they were out before the group stage. Just feel he's good at what he does but he won't or can't move beyond it.
Think he will struggle to get a better job than at us personally.

I think if you have him a Moyes at West Ham level of squad he'd probably perform around the same levels. He's not had the conditions to succeed here and has been working with one / both hands tied behind his back the whole time.
He'll not get that squad or the time to build it though as most fans wouldn't accept his tenure lasting that long, and the chances are we're still a few years away from even contemplating that, and he'll run out steam by that point anyway.

The important part of that though is he got Burnley to qualify for Europe. I mean that's the achievement surely? Going out early with what I assume without looking back was a limited and small squad is probably not all that surprising.
Does the fact he got there under those limited conditions not some argument that he could do better if given actual backing and a better quality of player?
I'm not trying to be a Dyche hype man, but I do think maybe some leeway could be warranted IF he can get us to safety again with a threadbare squad duct taped together with loans.
It's odd to bring up the failure of the Bournemouth game again, but up until it very much wasn't, that was an entertaining watch (for me) and did make me wonder if he could be capable of more with the right toolset. It's not what we've seen a lot of though, but still it shows a little potential.

He is a firefighter coach bring him in to get you out of trouble but there isn’t any progression with him imo he is stubborn and too loyal to players and too often just plays the percentage game 20/30 % possession in home games is embarrassing stuff even giving the limitations he is coaching under

Hypothetically speaking how many supporters would be happy to continue with Dyche IF our football was first 80/85 minutes vs Bournemouth and first half against Leicester quality. Also assuming that he managed to fix what happened post 85 minutes vs Bournemouth?

Well yeah?
The issue is the falling apart and poor tactics when things start to slide and he isn't going to miraculously start being able to tactically run games.

Don’t think he gets anywhere near enough respect for his career as a whole.
What he did at Burnley is up there with Allardyce at Bolton and moyes here.
Near the bottom of the championship to top seven in the premier league within a few years.
Completely built Burnley from the bottom up to become a stabilised premier league club.
Deserves a lot more respect imo.
He’ll be fine when he leaves us.

Statements like this are very matter of fact without really considering he's never had an opportunity to succeed at more and failed.
Is he really a firefighter or is he someone who did great at Burnley but had the rug pulled from under him by a crippling lack of investment and aging squad, who took over here and had to work in mental circumstances just to keep us afloat?
He's type cast because he's managed a team people don't particularly find glamorous and because of the situation he's found himself in here... No one really knows what he'd be like with a more progressive squad.
Many on here labelled Howe as utter shite and yet he's probably changed most people's opinions with the job he's done at Newcastle. Can never really judge someone until they've had the environment to succeed and then performed well or under par.

Think we are all happy to move on soon but dyche should leave with an amazing amount of credit when he does. He's done more for our club than any manager since moyes. The list of players managers, dof and board members who've outperformed him since moyes is also extremely short. We'd probably have been relegated and possibly in administration without him
Think it's daft to claim he's too loyal to the likes of Keane and young is just deliberately ignorant to our lack of options and to claim there's no progression in him is utterly ridiculous given Burnley are a different club because of his time with them
Unfortunately his performance this season has been short and he'll probably go for it but the lack of respect he's always got and the moving of the goalposts to justify it is just silly.

I think/hope it’ll be get us safe and bring in the new guy towards end of the season so he can assess what he’s got to work with. I think I read earlier we’ll only have 13 players under contract in the summer, so the rebuild may aswell be with new manager too.
I’m a fan of what he’s done and he does deserve a proper go, but if it’s a big squad overhaul then I think Friedkin will want his own man.

Fully accept he's done a very solid job with us in very trying circumstances but I can't wait til he's on his way. 1 point from 15 and out of the League Cup at the first hurdle is an atrocious start.
He's well suited to a small club with low expectations punching well above their weight and also he's decent in a firefighting situation like ours, and I imagine those would be the kinds of jobs he'll be offered in future.
I think he gets masses of respect from pundits and ex-players. Almost never hear him get criticised. The old boys network loves him.
I think his ''I get no respect'' schtick is very similar to Allardyce. They associate themselves with quite old school brands of football, and they identify themselves as swimming against the tide of all this new-fangled modern footie, and that puts them in a certain box which reduces the chance of more ambitious clubs approaching them.
It's fine like. There should be different approaches to football.
