Which is about the extra financial clout the new stadium is predicted to bring in

Dunno how much it means but my Bournemouth supporting son says Travers is the best back up keeper in the league and he’d have been happy to have him as number 1 this season

🗞️David Moyes is not looking to pursue a deal for Douglas Luiz at this stage.

That's me flapping the flap out.

We're going to make a mess of all this. We'll go with what we've got.

I think Douglas Luis is completely wrong for where we are at. Good player but committing our very top wages to a player who's career is on the decline was what the old Everton would do. He'd be a massive financial commitment with very little hope of ever moving him on if we wanted to

Agreed that wages are important, but I would keep the two things separate for FFP purposes. Transfer fees can be amortised over the length of the contract and there is more wiggle room like Chelsea have done. However wages are just cash straight off the balance sheet.

Regarding wages, I would expect the club to have an overall budget, and so transfers are only one small part of that. Still important for FFP but I wouldn’t include it in terms of how much we can spend on transfer fees, but more part of the overall P&L of the club.

He's not coming to us even if Moyes was interested. We need to next young Luiz rather than the expensive finished article from a Champions League club on massive wages.

One bad season in another country/culture doesn't mean he's on the decline. He's only just entering his prime.

£20m on a quality 27-year-old midfielder that we couldn't have dreamed about signing 12 months ago. Absolutely daft not to sign him if it's a possibility.

I imagine his wages are massive though. And he'll definitely have other Champions League suitors.

I'm not even saying he's on the decline. His career is though. A very good villa side. To juve. To everton. He's not that young. He's probably never going to play champions league football now. He's probably not gonna get another big move.

I'd like him but paying juve wages for someone who flopped at that level doesn't seem sensible

A bit of goggling says he earns €5m per year which is €96,000 per week, approximately £83,000 p/w. That's not mental money (relatively speaking as all football money is mental) and I doubt he'd be getting a payrise if he came here.

I do agree that he will likely have some better offers, with European football, but maybe the lure of the Premier League is enough.

I think he'd be a great signing.

I’d really like us to sign some footballers this year.

Ah wack.

Luiz would’ve hugely improved us for 5 years plus, whilst also giving us time to source a younger option way better than Kopite Garner.
