The intent to sign a midfielder to pair with Gana is clear. I don’t think it’s a go-with-what-we’ve-got type situation at all.
Feels to me like we had legit interest in Luiz but there’s a strong possibility he has better offers or that the numbers weren’t right for our budget (or both).
Unlikely that we have the financial leeway to pay the slight premiums to get the exact players we want in early. I think we’re going to be waiting until early to mid August for some of the most important deals to materialize. It’s not ideal but it’s the logical consequence of prior financial mismanagement.

Are we looking for a Gana clone who is old enough to also be finished soon

I'm sure they're very different players aren't they? Palhinha is a screener, sits and breaks things up with good positioning, doesn't roam around like a heat seeking missile.
Seems like he'd be an ideal player to compliment Gana.

Bad comparison there mate. Gana is 35 and up to now is playing as well as he ever has so a 30 year old Paulinha can give us 5 of his best years?
£40m!
They’re also about as different in terms of attributes as you can get too.

You think it's a good idea to pay 40m for a 30 year old and think those 5 years will be 5 of his best? That's a wild opinion full stop.
Listen they are a bit different, Gana a more complete CM, Paulinha probably a better long passer? But both just tackle monsters really.
Edit: reread it and maybe you think I'm being mean to Gana? Not the case, love him, one of the best ball winners I've ever seen, but he is nearly done sadly. Time comes for us all!

Dunno how much it means but my Bournemouth supporting son says Travers is the best back up keeper in the league and he’d have been happy to have him as number 1 this season
Massive pinch of tribalism there
He’s clearly not

Weirdly we have a Bournemouth fan in the family and he also really likes the GK and thought it was harsh that Kepa walked in and took his spot as they expected him to be promoted to 1st choice that season

Nah, that’s terrible business.
Has to be a loan only or nothing above £15m

Would ideally like us to sign a young centre mid and have him as an immediate starter as opposed to a one for the future type
Out of the players we’ve been linked with I guess a Merlin Rohl, Hayden Hackney, Dan Neil type?
One of those plus a starting right winger would be my priorities
Next up starting right back

I think we'll see
RW
Cm X2
A 10 - Charly isn't doing it for Moyes you can see that a million miles away
Maybe another striker tbh
A fullback, maybe RB
