Bit harsh this mate. Hes still our best RB option (which j know overall is a bad thing) Plus hes club captain, seems to be an important part of the dressing room too, cant put a price on that these days.

Yeah all the best sides have 36 year old starters who can't play more than 3 games a year as the best in their position with no back up

The 39 year old hasn’t done a bad job this season, would consider offering him a year at reduced wages, it’s going to be hard enough filling those other 10 vacancies.

He's not managed to play more than 30 games in any of the last 10 seasons, with 7 of them not totalling enough minutes to cover 20.

Being a good club captain does have a value, but if they're not playing football then paying them the salary of someone who does is crazy and sentimental.

Genuinely unsure which late career full back you are referring to.

Yeah can't be renewing him as a player, need to keep him around though so a place on the coaching staff would be perfect.

How many have we had these past 2 seasons from his off field motivating? It's an unknown, totally unquantifiable. I don't see any issue with giving him a basic coaching role though to help him learn the ropes and keep any positives he brings to the dressing room going.

I'm not advocating he takes a dominant role, we already have experienced coaches for that.

There are many factors at play, most of which we have no way of knowing.

Clearly we need a right back who can ideally last a whole season, we can see that. Clearly we don't have much money.

But beyond that it's all just guesswork, and you can just as easily make a plausible argument for keeping him as a player as for not.

Job for life if wants one.

Important fella to have around the club.

Pretty clear we should be offering him a coaching job, let him get involved at the under 18s and 21s
