I really liked Broja at Southampton and always thought he would fit in well here once fit. Wide options not ideal but we don’t have to just deal with McNeil and Harrison all season. Importantly, we have options over the Christmas period in a few positions and could possibly add that right winger in January.

Everton's summer transfer window has been ok, lets see if Mangala is a step up on Onana even if he is only on loan here. We did well to keep Branthwaite.
A couple of disappointing things is we could really have done with another winger as we seem very short on quality there. I don't quite understand either why Broja was brought in when we have DCL, Beto and Chermiti all as strikers here, unless one of them will be pushed out wide or something.

O.k the mystery over whether we pay his wages or not has been clarified, it’s a bit of both. We will not pay his wages UNTIL he is named in a Premier League game squad. Makes sense, good negotiating skills, if only we had done that with Gomez.

Ultimately, I just don't think we did enough.
Not blaming the manager or even thelwell, we just haven't got the money.
The squad isn't good enough, it's riddled with holes and full of 'he can do a job there' players who in isolation are absolutely crap. Too many of these players who lower your floor, and there's not enough quality to raise the ceiling.
I think trying to be completely dispassionate about it, I think we have a bottom 3/4 squad, and should expect a long season of battling the drop.
I hate myself for saying this, but if Dele is fit, and the terms are not too outrageous, let's take a chance. Maybe see if there's any other free agents available.

I think we have a midtable team, but bottom 5 squad. Obviously some new players that are unknowns and a few injuries.
I am worried this season though. The mentality of the club seems weak as piss right now.

Why were none of the new signings introduced to the crowd. I saw Mangala at the beginning walking along the park end having some photos, but nothing from the club at half time or at the beginning. Appreciate Broja may not of been there yet

Only a guess but it maybe the two signings are one season loans with no obligation? I can’t remember if we’ve introduced players on those terms before.

The old talk yourself into broja is a good player has started he is made of glass can’t keep himself fit for any length of time has skill and strength not sure about pace but will spend more time on the treatment table than the pitch
