I don't like the mcatee thing. Top club hype job at a premium with a buy back or a sell on.
Yeah he just looks neat and tidy. Think we'd have to overpay and like you say they'd then have the added insurance of a sell on fee. I don't see where he really excels

I think it's more useful looking at him at Sheff U, rather than City because City's players are very system-dependent and their abilities don't always translate to other setups the same way.
He's basically a tekky baller. Not rapid, but ticks most other boxes for the position.

I like McAtee. Very Maddison like that adds quality on the ball. Really nice ball control and sees a pass. Also seems to have a good engine.
Just not sure what City would want for him and whether that price would be worth it. Have to ask ourselves whether there are better value players out there.

Not sure if it’s just cos he’s a Manc but I always think he looks like he should be on Coronation Street
Crossover with the 'What would they be doing?' thread, but would definitely be someone working in the garage with Kevin Webster.

James McAtee played with Iliman Ndiaye at Sheffield United during the 2022/23 btw

Let’s hope neither of them John Terry’d the other and then it could be a point in our favour.

You forgot RB, we need a RB… unless there’s a young RB named Europe

Would worry about the lack of pace getting in behind and stretching teams if we go with him and ndyaie out wide.
Defo need another wide option, if not, then a pacy right back.

Looks to have great feet in that video but is he the creative passer we need in the 10?
I suppose he's a good versatile option who can play there or out wide which would be handy. Would all depend on how much City wanted for him.
Age, ability, versatility and potential all seem the right profile for what we should be doing and I'd want him over Jacob Ramsey who seems a similar option but slightly older.
Back of my mind just thinks City produce players like this who are amazing, Foden, Palmer etc, so you can almost guarantee the one we buy will turn out to be the crap one.

Big Al Myers reckons he thinks Kubo is the target.
Honestly. Just would not believe my eyes if we pulled that off.

Same for Kubo tbf, neither of them are roadrunners.
Barry and Beto both have legs but yeah we really lack a direct threat.
