Not even a whiff of an off hand spurious rumour in the air. Think I might need to get my flap suit out of the wardrobe and check if it still fits.

May as well touch the grass at Bramley Moore considering we've only got 15 players to cover there

No way, man. Last time I tried that, the neighbours called the police.

I think the lack of noise is probably a direct result of Villa quoting £30m for Ramsey and City £35m for McAtee.

I imagine we're being priced out of our top targets which isn't ideal.

Realistically we aren't in a position to gamble that kind of money on players that aren't dead certs, so we'll have to start moving on to other targets.

We need to get a wriggle on though, does seem we've spent too long on certain targets hoping one would come off, but think it's clear we aren't getting either of those two or Luiz.

"So Tete is our top target, let's get him."

1 Week later

"Tete is off. So we're moving onto target number 2 now. Looks like it's going to be a tricky one but he's worth the wait"

2 Weeks later

"Okay. Number 2 looks too much hard work to get done. We'll move onto Number 3. Kyle Walker-Peters, let me just find his agents numb... Oh shit he's gone to West Ham. Number 4 it is. Kyle Walk... Oh fuck he's gone to Burnley. Does anyone know what Hibbo is up to?" David, can you give Coufal a bell?"

One thing I don't like and I'm sure some will disagree with but, it feels like Mcatee, Luiz and Grealish are quite prioritised targets.

Are they the perfect profile players for what we need or are they players of good quality who appear to have become available based on their parent club decisions, and if the latter, does it feel more like we're being sold to rather than we've identified targets that suit our needs?

Maybe our needs are simply too great to satiate in one window, hence opting to buy a couple of high profile available band-aids?

Hello, guys, how is everyone today?

I’m really sorry to do this on a gloomy Monday afternoon but I have been thinking about Jamie Vardy and think he might be a decent option for us. Allows Cherms to go on loan.

Regards.

I think they are great profiles, certainly Luiz and McAtee.

Luiz immediately improves us, if we could get him it's a real no brainer. We could also get Hackney instead but does he immediately improve us or need a season or two to become a key player for us?

McAtee covers the 10 position and wide if first choices are injured. We basically only have Alcaraz who Moyes seems to not really rate in the 10 so a young talented player with experience who can go straight in and contribute? Yeah that's a profile we need. Unfortunately it seems cost and other suitors will scupper our chances.

Grealish just seems a bit lazy and us chancing our arm at someone who would elevate us considerably on the cheap. Long shot, was never likely to come off.

I understand the argument of just going and getting the likes of Hackney and Fellows, both obtainable targets, but question that wisdom in a starting lineup with those two and Alcaraz, all probably raw and inexperienced at this level. It might still end up with that happening but it shouldn't be the first option we explore just because it's easier to get over the line.

Just feels at this moment we've been getting the run around and haven't walked away when we should have just in case one actually came off.

I really wouldn't be that surprised to see dcl and/or doucoure playing for us next season. We originally wanted them to stay and it doesn't appear there's much demand for them at the money they wanted
