We were still competitive after that for a few seasons but being banned from Europe, lost us our greatest manager and a large chunk of the team as they wanted to compete on the European stage. Stevens and (eventually) Steven, went to Rangers. Also a few of the bigger contributors like Reid got old.

Commentators today would be reaching for their inner Shakespeare to describe that pass. John Motson hardly gives it a mention “picks out Stevens”. I like to think that is as much about the expectation levels that team brought onto the pitch as it is Motson being understated.

Remember before we got taken over by Moshiri? Remember when you’d never heard of 777? Remember before you got your hopes up with The Friedkin Group?

Was it only 3? Thought we were pumped 5-0 but that could have been another year. Scary line-up.
