Optically, would be pretty bad (for Sociedad) to tour Japan and then immediately sell their Japanese winger upon return, no?

Why? All the benefits of having him are used up once they leave.

Can anyone think of any teams that still needs a right winger that’s likely to be a bigger draw for players?

Lots of teams have bought them who were mentioned in all our rumours. I reckon we might see some movement soon.

Left winger? Of all positions we don’t need

We do. It’s not the most glaring hole in the squad but we do need one. If we got a LW and/or LB now it would say to me that these are the deals we can get done at the moment and the other more priority positions require patience for the right players. On the left side we can take more risks on raw talent and speculative transfers (like take a Lindstrøm on the left on loan). RW, RB, CM have to be nailed on prem quality starters.

I wonder if he is being brought in as a LB as he has played there a bit.

Can he? Was completely ineffective there when we tried it.

Ashley Young is joining Ipswich, so at least that bridge is burnt.

Genuinely don’t recall that but he’s played off the striker a lot in his career and it’s probably his best position

Yeah one of the games towards the end of the season. Didn't look good there at all.

Yeah kinda does really... He's better on the left and we need someone who is better as the 10.

Move a player who's thrived at LW in to a spot he doesn't look as good to accommodate a new player, and not bother address the need for a proper 10 in the process is about as backward thinking as you can get.

How about we just buy a RW and a proper AM who is creative and able to supply through balls for a striker we constantly say needs them in order to be effective? Seems a bit more joined up in the thinking category don't ya think?
