From my point of view, from what we can see from the outside, he's made approaches for several relatively unknown players who have gone on to be excellent. And we've missed out because of our financial situation or manager vetoes.

Could be wrong because who really knows apart from the people at the club, but it looks like he's actually good at his job.

I mean, if the manager can't get Danjuma in the team but does get Harrison in every week then maybe that isn't on the DOF? Though I guess you can argue with loan signings that Thelwell should have targeted more absolute cloggers to suit the manager rather than players with a semblance of ability.

What do we think this means for Thelwell after dithering Davey gets announced?
Historically he hasn't worked with a DoF and has kinda been resistant to it, I think that what why they got rid of him at West Ham as he refused to engage with the process, Thelwell out the door in the summer?

We've upgraded from a manager whose tactics were rooted in the 80s to one in the 90s, that's about as modern as it gets for now.
But it will be interesting to see why this means on the DoF front and will be a good indicator as to how committed TFG are to Moyes, as he will want full control

Isn’t it pretty well known that the DoF or technical director fella at West Ham is a massive weapon?

Don't know, and I could be wrong about Moyes being resistant to working with DoFs, but there has always been that narrative, but it could've been a clash of personalities at West Ham?

No idea on the back story I just recall people saying this fella was basically a bit of a tit.

Moyes comes across as an intelligent person, I reckon he’d work *alongside* someone if he viewed them as good at their job and added value.

Ultimately I have no idea but I’m along for the ride.

Yeah, I would hope that's part of the deal that he'll work with a DOF as that's the club's structure going forward.

We need a manager and he's not exactly got a long list of offers so I'm sure there's a common ground that can be agreed on.

I remember him being interviewed when in charge of us and he showed the interviewer around. They commented on the article about how he had a huge board with targets for every position and levels of priority. Doesn't sound amazing when I'm writing it but it was apparently incredibly in depth.

I think things like this where he is involved in the process would work alongside a DOF, it wouldn't work if either had full autonomy or weren't on the same page. He would never hand full control over to someone else and his track record backs up why he shouldn't.

I think he’s done a very good job in difficult circumstances and can see why he’s made all the transfer decisions he has. The best thing he’s done compared to his predecessor is not lose massive amounts of money on a lot of players. There’s no JP Gbamins on the pay roll for instance. Even Maupay and Beto have retained most of the fee we paid for them although I think they’re special cases.

The odd one or two that he got wrong tended to get shipped out sharpish. Per Koldrup is the one that instantly springs to mind.

Townsend is a bell end. Chats shite. Not sure why they continue to have him on.
