What is it with clubs making managerial appointments on pure vibes now?

Think it's the arrogance of top teams. Some of their boards want to do have of the managers job themselves.
Think awful managerial appointments at Barcelona has probably lost them numerous trophies and will leave them at a financial disadvantages for decades

Absolutely washed these days, at least he didn't end up in Saudi though.

I think Jose at Fenerbache has more potential to cause world war three than escalations in the Middle East.
Shouldn’t be allowed to happen on diplomatic reasons. It’s genuinely dangerous.

Just think there's not really many great candidates out there that they could attract, so they've probably thought ''let's wait til December when we have to sack him, and see if the manager market looks brighter''.

Who would they be waiting for though? Klopp and Pep would never happen. Carlo very unlikely. They won't want Mourinho.
I reckon they've just decided to make a decision and get on with things. Unless he starts the season well and sticks around then I think this indicates it's definitely going to be Southgate who replaces him considering that Tuchel, Pochettino, De Zerbi, Xavi, Potter, McKenna and others I've forgotten about are all available now and yet they've decided to stick with him.

I think if you look at all those candidates, none of them massively jumps out for Man Utd tbh. Seems like INEOS want more of a head coach who doesn't control transfers. Tuchel's a bit of a chaos merchant, Poch is quite opinionated and wants things his way. I would've gone for him, but maybe he would want his own transfers and they don't want that. De Zerbi is a big risk at a higher level, Xavi doesn't seem like an obvious fit, Potter is another big risk. I would've thought McKenna might've been a strong choice, but also risky.
I just don't think there's anyone that screams ''this guy will be guaranteed to be better than another season of ETH'', and that's probably what they are looking for.
Also, it might seem mad to us outsiders but a lot of Man U fans want to keep ETH. I've heard people say it's like a 50/50 split at Old Trafford.
