Dewsbury-Hall makes a lot of sense given what we lack in the middle. Rates fairly well as a ball carrier and progressive passer over several seasons.

Might be a bit soft in a double pivot although he does seem to have been a passable defender the last time he was in the PL in a starting role with Leicester.

Seems to have played more as an attacking midfielder lately so he might help us cover a couple of positions.

I’ve never been particularly impressed but I haven’t watched him regularly. He appears to do a whole bunch of things our other midfielders don’t. Would be happy if we added him, although probably not on a permanent deal if Chelsea want what they paid for him.

Would be happy with him and another midfielder.

At the point now where I’d take any upgrade and additions in the team and I think the club have reached that point as well.

Dewsbury hall and Dibling aren’t the most exciting players but they’re massive upgrades on what we already have so just get them done if we can.

3m apparently. I assume on reduced wages too. Seems like a great punt for a bottom team. Probably won't work out but he was for a little while a very good player

3 mil? That's a crazy climb down from Chelsea, I guess they just want him off the books.

He was nowhere near it with us but 3 mil could be bargain if he can ever get past his injury issues, huge doubt on that of course. There was a time when DCL looked completely cooked too though and he was able to get back to more reliable fitness.

Dewsbury-Hall gives me some Tom Cleverley vibes for some reason, mainly as he's got the bigger club aura bonus but I'm not sure he's earned the bigger club premium price tag.

I’m also not into KDH at all. I was very shocked when chelsea paid so much for him, but then again not, because it’s Chelsea. He never looked near Maddison’s level when they were both at Leicester and he doesn’t seem to have improved that much when I’ve seen him play for Chelsea. £30m for a 26 year old and he doesn’t get much of a look in when it’s a team of raw young talents. Smells fishy to me.

A loan with an option would be ok to see him up close but I wouldn’t be excited by it and would definitely want us to bring in 1 probably 2 midfielders.

He may well just be crap. A poor man’s Maddison who also can’t defend but provides little going forward. The Cleverley comparison is probably spot on.

Watching clips of him for even just a minute will inform you that he is not Tom Cleverley.

The fact that he can beat a man off the dribble, wriggle away from pressure, and even seems to have decent timing arriving in the box to score makes him a distinctly different (and better) player.

I know his day has gone and it’s harder to find him on YouTube but you’d be hard-pressed to find a clip of Cleverley taking more than two touches and/or not playing a short pass straight in the direction he’s facing. You’ll probably find 10 different angles of that one United goal where he did some slick pass-and-move one touch stuff to set up Nani.

I’m not saying you have to like the idea of Dewsbury-Hall but let’s at least be accurate when we talk about him. He’s got some pressure resistance and dribbling ability and he’s got a season of 10+ goals and 10+ assists under his belt, albeit in the Championship. The numbers suggest that he’s a decent progressive passer too.

Fair enough to question if he’s right for us but there’s a player in there for someone. He might be more natural for a proper midfield three than as a lone attacking mid or Gana partner in a double pivot.

Sorry, I wasn't making a comparison to Cleverley the player as such. They aren't the same. It was more a comment of I'm not sure he's worth the premium price tag that a top 6 club like Chelsea would likely want for him because I don't really think he's top 6 quality. Chelsea and others (Liverpool for example) buy players it feels at times because they can effectively launder them if it doesn't work out because if they play a season or two for them however sporadically they can ask for that price bump or at least make their investment back even if they're a couple of years older and not really performed.

My only intended comparison to Cleverley is I'm not sure he's that high calibre to warrant paying what Chelsea seemingly want for him (rumour of 30 mil when he was linked to West Ham recently). Stats wise, yes he had his best season in the Championship, but I'd probably argue the seasons that might be closer relevance might be his 21/22 and 22/23 PL seasons with Leicester where his best return was 2 goals and 2 assists. He's a decent player, but decent isn't something I think we should be entertaining if they're asking for 30 mil or thereabouts.

I’m not in to him purely because he sounds like a wedding venue. From the first time I heard his name during commentary it’s annoyed me.
