He’s looked good whenever he’s played.
That’s three goals all started from his good work dropping off.
Probably won’t score much but we are a much better team with him.
Love beto but it’s over for him now.

I think the subbing off at half time would suggest Moyes might have run out of patience and might be willing to start Barry now.

Yeah, I think if Beto is throwing in that performance in a match like this then it's the bench for him going forward. I don't mind if Barry doesn't look like scoring, everyone else looks better around him.

Beto’s a perfect sub.
Everyone wins when Moyes figures this out.

Right now there is room for Beto and Barry. I can’t go all in on Barry yet as he still looks like he’s getting up to the speed of the league and frankly as yet has never looked like scoring.
Beto has his faults clearly, but today I think the change of approach made a huge difference second half more than who changed up top. We weren’t endlessly hoofing it on a wet pitch where the ball was never going to stick and going straight to their keeper. Beto today was mostly chasing lost causes.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Barry start the next game though. I’d not be opposed to him getting a run of starts to see how he does.
He could use a goal to cement himself in the team though.

The change of approach was enabled by the change of striker.
Playing the ball into Beto’s feet is a more dangerous pass than it should be. When he miscontrols it badly (and this is not an uncommon occurrence), there’s usually a good counterattacking opportunity for the other team if our midfield doesn’t clean his mess up instantly.
Barry gives us calm and control. He doesn’t set the press as well, he’s not as much of a threat to run in behind, and he hasn’t had the same nose for chances. But the strength of this side is Grealish and Ndiaye, whichever striker brings out the best in those two is the one who should start and right now, it’s Barry.

I'd acknowledge Barry is better at that approach, but I just don't think we ever really tried with Beto first half today. Everything was pinged long and ran out or to their keeper. So I get Beto can be a limiter on the style to a degree, but also I don't think he was really to blame for how things went first half.
I'm down with Barry getting a run of games, but I do think he really could use a goal to get some confidence going in that area of the pitch as at the moment he almost seems a little timid or hesitant.
Honestly, we need more from both strikers. I'm just a bit unconvinced by both I suppose. Almost need a bit of both right now, maybe we could play them both up top?

A real shame that Beto's purple patch near the start of Moyes' tenure didn't last very long. He still has this weird unpredictability about him and can still score goals when we least expect it or when his form suggests the opposite. I don't mind him at all as a backup striker or just another option upfront.
Still remains to be seen regarding Barry to what extent can he be a goal threat but granted he will still be adjusting to the new league.
The striker position certainly feels one the club will need to prioritise for next summer, assuming our finances and PSR compliance will all be healthy.

Barry hit double figures in La Liga last season so he definitely knows how to bag, it's just the adaptation to the Premier League which may hold him back a bit in that regard.
Pretty sure if we create for him though he'll score a few. We know what we're getting with Beto, and that's not enough so definitely time to give Barry the starting position now and let him get used to the league as quickly as possible.

I think it’s just timing and learning a new set of teammates.
He’s a good move starter. When he figures out when and where to arrive in the box, the goals will come.

One of the things for me about Barry is the unfound runs he makes. To my unprofessional eye, it looks like he’s making some really intelligent runs, but the players with the ball either don’t notice or can’t reach him.
When the analysis teams are rewatching the games, they must surely be picking up on this?
Figure that out and try and feed some of these runs and he goes up several levels imo.

In fairness to Beto, the long ball service he was getting, no striker is scoring. Over hit and perfect for the CB. We know his first touch can be poor, yet we still expect him to hold the long ball and lay off passes. He can't do that with consistency or ease. Threw balls are all that work for him really. Also, hes just not that good... sadly

I’m sure Moyes wanted to ease him in to the league but his hand is being forced to start him regularly now.

Well balanced view. Beto wouldn’t be a first choice striker for any premier team but the service yesterday didn’t help him at all.
